Student Mind, Dada. Now we get you point. Dada, to bring about this revolution, we shall have to activate Jagat (universal) conscience. Alas, it would still remain a dream as it would involve the change of each and every individual in the universe!
Shantnu It is not that difficult as you suppose. You know, a single evil genius can cause destruction to a lot many nations. Similarly a colossal personality, driven by the sense of righteousness, can also bring about inner changes in the individuals of a nation, then in another, till all nations are knitted in one family, universal-Religion.
Student Dada, if that personality happens to be partial to his/her nation of birth!
Shantnu Righteousness (Dharma) does not consist of one aspect of life. It relates to all phases of life. No novice or an immature character can afford to follow its discipline. It is a total way of life that one has to imbibe and live in accordance to its rigid injections. It is not a philosophy that one acquires by theory; it is, as I told you earlier, a practical way of life. So whosoever imbibes it becomes its permanent disciple, because his convictions are so strong that no wayward temptation deviate him from his chosen path.
Student Dada, all of us have read of it in Gita, so we would not like you to delve into it in detail, but please tell us of its main principles.
Shantnu It is not different from conscience. Truth, love, peace and non-violence are its four pillars. On them stands the Manson of righteousness. When one adopts them in daily life, then one's conscience takes care and dictates the right course in every decision of life. One who follows one's conscience; it guides him like a Master in every sphere of his life. So follow the dictates of your conscience, you shall never waver in your life. Like a strong mast, it will sail your boat of life smoothly, and the reward would be the perfection of life.
Student Dada, without the application of conscience of Religion, perfection of life is not possible, is that true?
Shantnu Very true, my dears. They are the two arches through which the mind has to pass to attain its maturity of wisdom. There is no deviation and no other alternative.
Student Dada, we are troubled about one aspect, to which our minds are do not subscribe.
Shantnu It is about the sinner's aspect, is that right?
Student How could you know Dada?
Shantnu Because we had left this aspect incomplete; now ask, what are your doubt about it?
Student Dada, what are sins?
Shantnu These are the errors one commits in life.
Student You mean to say that there are no sins but only errors, Dada!
Shantnu That's right. You have heard me correctly.
Student Dada, with this simple statement, you are likely to change the basic philosophy of quite a few religions.
Shantnu Not their philosophies but misconceptions based on fear psychosis.
Student Dada, why would they (their master) want to create fear in the minds of their followers?
Shantnu Just to have complete control over their minds!
Student Why the element of fear Dada, whereas love would have been an ideal instruments?
Shantnu Fear generates hatred contracts the growth of mind (knowledge) and thus breeds ignorance, whereas love grows and expands and thus wisdom blossoms and the brotherhood of man is re-established.
Student But fear can be removed by knowledge, Dada.
Shantnu But not this fear, my dears. You know we reap the fruits of every act during our lives (cause-effect) but in this case the consequences of our sins (errors) are supposed to be borne out in the next lives!
Student This fear is based on the non-existent lives! Thus it is a fear of our ignorance.
Dada, we are supposed to pledge our future lives to the fear psychosis propagated by the masters of religions, who preach the philosophy of sin and sinners. Whatever be its merits or demerits, we should not subscribe to a philosophy that negates our present life and pledges the future lives to Satan!
Shantnu Whether there are sins or sinners, hell or heaven, Angel or Satan, it is not a topic that fits within the orbit of Reality. These abbreviations are the creations of those religions which assume God-Reality as a concept not a Reality. Their parameters of conscience and religion are quite different and partial to their sects, than to Religion, which is based on love and brotherhood of humanity.
Let us not waste our time and energy on such digressions, which yield no constructive results but breed hatred, the very antithesis of conscience. Therefore, follow the dictates of your conscience and march ahead and reap its fruits which yields the yeast of wisdom-that tastes of Reality. Conscience is a mirror, which sees through the self-thy-self.
