  1. Science Puzzle

    by on 08-31-2008 at 03:50 AM (Spiral Path's Blog)
    I believe I was about 7 years old when my older twin brothers came home from school one day and, in order to show off with their newly acquired physics knowledge, presented me with my first science puzzle: More than 2000 years ago, Archimedes, the Greek physicist and mathematician, was supposed to have said something like "Give me a fixed point to stand on and a long enough pole and I can move the Earth out of its regular track". I was stunned! What? Move the planet? - At first I thought ...

  2. Should I or shouldn't I ?

    I mean should I or shouldn't I write my life's story?

    Many things have happened since I wrote my last entry in 2007. I am pleasantly surprised that I am still around, even though lately it's getting to be quite a struggle to get up every morning. The first thing I always have to do is to reach for the walker, try to make it to the medicine cabinet in the bathroom without falling and take a pain killer with a glass of water. Ibuprofen seems to be so far the only one that doesn't make ...

    3. THE GRAVITY PARADIGM SHIFT
    GRAVITATION IS ONLY IN A NARROW SENSE AN ATTRACTION BETWEEN TWO MASSES, IN A MORE GENERAL SENSE IT IS REALLY A "DANCE" OF TWO VECTOR MASSES AROUND THE COMMON CENTER OF MASS - IF CONDITIONS ALLOW FREE MOVEMENT.

    Our present understanding of Newton's gravitational concept comprises two scalar masses that are somehow mysteriously attracted to each other through a gravitational force having the formula
    F = G*M*m/R^2 or

    2. THE COHESION PARADIGM SHIFT (continued)
    THE FASTER ANY VECTOR MASS MOVES IN ABSOLUTE SPACE, THE BETTER ITS COHESION HAS TO BE TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING APART.

    When we talk of gravity, we usually think of the force that keeps us relatively firmly connected to the surface of the Earth and we calculate it in mathematical terms with the formula I cited in the previous blog, i.e.
    g = GmM/R^2,
    whereby R = the distance of any location on the surface of the Earth ...

    2. THE COHESION PARADIGM SHIFT
    THE FASTER ANY VECTOR MASS MOVES IN ABSOLUTE SPACE, THE BETTER ITS COHESION HAS TO BE TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING APART.

    This statement appears to be only "common sense" and therefore wouldn't need to be called a "shift" from the normal, everyday experience that we humans already had as toddlers. After all, a compact rubber ball, for example, can be thrown a lot further (and hence a lot faster) with the same energy expenditure ...
