We will be keeping with our regular chat schedule for now, but that may change by our next chat. I'm trying to determine what days and times are most convenient to those members most likely to participate. Be sure and make your choice in this poll if you're interested in attending future chat sessions and select your preferred days.
This next chat session will be held this Saturday, August 20th at 3:00pm Central Standard Time (CST) also known as (GMT-6). You can use the timezone converter to convert to your local time. Once there, enter the day and time as specified above, then select US/Central in the "From Time Zone" column and your own location in the "To Time Zone" column, then click Convert. Be sure and unclick the "Use Current Date/Time" option. This will give you the time of the chat meeting in your own local time.
Some other areas: Texas, U.S. - Saturday, 3:00pm
California, U.S. - Saturday, 1:00pm
India - Sunday, 1:30am
London - Saturday, 9:00pm
Madrid, Spain - Saturday, 10:00pm
Melbourne, Australia - Saturday, 10:00pm
New Zealand - Sunday, 8:00am
Sweden - Saturday, 10:00pm
Canada, Eastern - Saturday, 4:00pm This will be our eleventh official ToeQuest chat meeting. Chat meetings are usually scheduled every two weeks using alternating times: Fri-11pm, Sat-3pm, Sun-7am (Central Standard Time). Our community now has 667 members from 80 countries, so I've tried to accommodate all members with this approach. However, due to low turnout, I'll be changing the schedule for future chats.
This chat session will be an open discussion and we'll see where that takes us. You can add your pre-chat comments to this thread if you wish. If you have any topics you would like to bring up in the chat, you might post it here ahead of time.
Regards,
--Robert "I'm going on a TOE Quest!"

I know there are many time zones to consider, but 11pm is just beyond my normal day and sometimes I'm ready to sleep by then. Times from 7pm to 9pm would be better. Also, weekends are for getting away from computers these days, especially for those of us who work on them all through the work week. Following the statistics on my own physics site, I find that the highest traffic is on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening.

Sorry guys, I missed this one. I had my sister and brother and their families in from out of town and spent the day with them on Saturday. Also forgot to update the announcement on the main forum page so some people may not have known about the chat. I'm not sending out email notices anymore since only a small percentage of members were responding.
Sounds like you guys had a great conversation. Two opposing points of view yet the conversation remained professional, respectful, and stuck with scientific principles.
Next time -- I'll be making some changes in the chat sessions for future chats. I'll start using my log analysis software to look at recent traffic patterns to see what days and times have the most visitors. I'll start an unmoderated, weekly chat session at these times using the open topic format. I'd also like to continue the bi-weekly chat sessions w/topic on the weekends, but I'll start requiring members to register to gauge the interest level in a topic, and may cancel these if there is no interest.
Chat Day Poll -- The poll in this thread has been deleted but I have copied it to a sticky thread of its own to continue to collect day and time preferences. "I'm going on a TOE Quest!"

I figured something must have come up. The same thing happened to me last week. Yes, Dave and I had a good chat. I look forward to another chat at some time.
As for the attendance, it is now near the end of summer vacation. Wait until school has started again before changing too many things or shutting things down. I think you'll find that early evening in the middle of the week will be a good time for physics chats when school is back in session.
I'm putting together some new material right now for posting to TOE Quest and for setting up wiki pages. I'm planning to make TOE Quest my main platform for presenting the Aether Physics Model this coming year and plan to make links from my site to yours.
BTW, if all goes well, I'll be going to England in September to meet with a qualified physicist who is interested in the APM. It will be interesting to see how things develop from then.

It does look like the weekdays have more traffic than weekends. Early afternoon may have more traffic. But I still need to analyze the logs further and filter out my own traffic. Quote: |

I'm in the middle of a major Research Library upgrade that you might be interested in. Powerful WYSIWYG editing facilities with nice image and flash management features. I'll be contacting all my researchers shortly on the details. Quote: |

You might consider posting a trip report in the Member Sagas forum so we can all share in your upcoming adventure.

I'll probably schedule something for this weekend, probably on Saturday. I'll make an announcement sometime tomorrow. Let me know your preference as for as day and time if you have one. "I'm going on a TOE Quest!"
