    Stereochemistry: Meso compounds

I was wondering if a molecule is considered a meso even if the plane of symmetry bisects an atom?

I know this is not exactly a discussion question but I figured you guru's would know.

    i.e.

    OH
    Br_|_
    H _|_Cl
    Br_|_
    |
    OH

    Re: Stereochemistry: Meso compounds

I am not sure what the structure of this molecule is. Perhaps just give the molecular formula?

And no, a meso compound cannot have a plane of symmetry that bisects an individual atom.
