Self-energy has always been a problem in physics. The self-energy of the electron has been able to change its mass from naked mass or bare mass to experimentally detected mass. The naked mass of the electron is infinite while its actual experiment mass is proportional to its de Broglie wavelength. Get as far as possible from the naked singularity of the big bang. The universe is doing just that. But the point of origin is still unknown.
