    Re: Cracking The Cosmic Joke

I like the finding of such form a reminder that they could be discarded sketch pads of creation?

    hi there again

The word masterpiece brings to mind the word appreciation of a type to percieve IT ALL as ... a ... masterpiece ... i am slowly coming to the conclusion though we have our moments of understanding being of the image that we could create then having the ability to do so ... somewhere being in the mind of course ... not to presumptuous?

    Graham ~Peace!

now I'm am going to cut the rock for setting as is in a nice pendent to hang around the neck of the highest bidder to be able to go out and enjoy more findings ... the true circle of life! Ching Ching Ching

    ...further...

I think that any discussion of the Cosmic Joke should include Charles Fort...

"One measures a circle beginning anywhere. - Charles Fort

Charles Fort was a painstakingly erudite dissector of scientific texts and a ravenous predator of scientific dogma, who scrutinized how scientists formed their theories according to their own personal views, rather than the weight of evidence available. Fort gleefully trawled through the data that was suppressed, discarded or explained away in a less than satisfactory manner. He referred to this this data as 'damned'."

    Re: Cracking The Cosmic Joke

I have just read this thread from start to finish and in my opinion, find it excellent.

    Why did it stop?

As the threadstarter, not2too, left us with references to Charles Fort, here is a quote by same in reference to Charles Darwin and evolution.

Darwin & Evolution In mere impressionism we take our stand. We have no positive tests nor standards. Realism in art: realism in science--they pass away. In 1859, the thing to do was to accept Darwinism; now many biologists are revolting and trying to conceive of somet hing else. The thing to do was to accept it in its day, but Darwinism of course was never proved:
    The fittest survive.
What is meant by the fittest?
Not the strongest; not the cleverest--
    Weakness and stupidity everywhere survive.
There is no way of determining fitness except in that a thing does survive.
"Fitness," then, is only another name for "survival."
    Darwinism:
    That survivors survive.

So many paths to the same destination,
would, but I could, experience them all...
