    It's a matter of acceptance.

There's no harm in trying to find out if consciousness is a biological process, if it is then we have also proved that consciousness is not absolute.
That's how the human intellect progresses, by questioning not by accepting.

By acceptance, we only grow our beliefs.

The quest will never end, we will have to end it.

Does not mean we are capable of ending it, it means, we have to give up and accept at the end,
or we can accept nothing and become a nihilist, an atheist or whatever.
Or we can accept now itself, and become a spiritualist.
Or we can keep on questioning and become a scientist, a worthy occupation, in my opinion.

Life in general is a very worthy occupation, we don't stop living just because we've managed to work a few things out.
By that i mean we work out that this is all an illusion.
    The 'play of maya'

No, we enjoy that illusion for all it's worth.
Even if it involves being scientific and wanting to discover stuff.
That is a fun thing to do of course.

Mohan life is an endless dance it plays with itself,
all we are doing here in real life and in forum posting ..
is dancing the game of life.

    Thank-you for this dance mohan.

Of course ..No-body can prove anything, everything just IS

We can neither prove nor disprove where consciousness comes from in any shape or form.
    The source is un-source-able.

I've never claimed once that my theories are foolproof.

Questions will lead to more and more and more.

    The horizon is un-graspable.

Yes, by all means play the game of life, that was the whole point of the dream anyway..to live your dreams in real time.

    Enjoy it....I do.

    Re: Consciousness Explained

The fact that the chemicals of anesthesia can be applied in a certain area to turn off consciousness means that that is where consciousness is generated [in the brain].

The rest of the process is a continuing scientific investigation.

(Mel, now we have the new prefixes; before that all the threads were "unified".)

Well, that's fine then .. so now you've got your prefixes.. you can now play the game of un-unifying the threads.

Austie...there could possibly be no such thing as turning off consciousness. What about the medical case of the lady who was anethetized and then her heart purposely stopped in order for a very, delicate heart procedure. How could she when coming back from anesthesia and surgury completely relate details of everything they did to her and all that was occurring in the OR??? When we have medical doctors recording these events in medical journals, I think we can honestly say we have not figured consciousness out yet...

    Re: Consciousness Explained

Sometimes anesthesia doesn't work, such as for that lady.

I will be turning off my consciousness tonight when I go to sleep. My brain will then keep my body going, as it does all the time, non of that ever making its way into consciousness, as 95% never does.

It's simple to turn off consciousness.

Use your old Bo Peep staff to bop yourself over the head.

    Re: Consciousness Explained

Austie are you sure consciousness shuts off when you sleep or does consciousness just transit into the dimension of unconscious. I do not need my bopeep staff...I sleep like a baby...smiles...

The unconscious or subconscious is not conscious.

    Re: Consciousness Explained

Did you ever consider that the unconscious and subconscious are dimensional phases of consciousness. I mean is that not what we are trying to figure out...what comprises consciousness???

Our lady in the above medical example would not have been able to pass through the first stretches of surgury if anethesia had not taken...the pain would have been intolerable and there would have been all kinds of noticeable affects through blood rate, blood presure and maybe even would have caused brain seizures....she had to be under the effects of anethesia for them to cut into her chest and expose her heart.....

    Re: Consciousness Explained

There are many cases of patients who were conscious during operations but couldn't move and so they couldn't tell anyone about it.

"Dimensional phases" has no real meaning if it is just a considered thing, plus the components of the phrase have no real substrate.

    Re: Consciousness Explained

I suggest you go read some of these medical journals. They are quite insightful....

I still say we have not figured out consciousness and I believe from my own experience and then my studies that consciousness is a whole system, fragmented into parts....I believe from my own experience if one can re-member the parts then in an evolutionary sense, higher conscious energy fields of the nature of electromagnetic energy are reached and it affects perceptual awareness....
