The ruins lie scattered all around, yet the archway of opposition stands firmly in place, it's strength dependent upon the keystone of inconclusiveness...both sides, therefore, being equally valid.

But nothing's lost. Or else: all is translation And every bit of us is lost in it... - James Merrill
Science and religion meet at the causeless bottom, the common ground, it seems, nearly in agreement, at last, but then along comes the dilemma of perfect causeless order vs. complete causeless disorder.
This is the belief about the dating of Humankind. Scientific and scholarly orthodoxy currently believe that our species Homo sapiens sapiens has existed for only the last 180, 000 years or so. Ten years ago it was 120,000 years. Two decades before 80,000 years. A century earlier in the infancy of archaeology, it was under 20,000. However, it has also quietly been recognized that pretty well the same human type as Cro-Magnon Man, the name given to an early archaeological type of Homo sapiens sapiens, named after the French site where it was found existed at least l.5 million years ago, at the very beginning of the Quaternary Age. (Scholar, J.S. Gordon)
Straight common sense tells us that the fact this recognition is QUIET bears out the claim by many researchers right at the edge of pre-history that Nature more than likely produced superior versions of ourselves over 1.5 million years ago.
It is huge question marks like this that allow me to understand why Michael Cremo and Richard Thompson authored the book Forbidden Archaeology and the Hidden History of the Human Race. Because of this I have taken a peculiar interest in those attempting to unravel the true story of Plato’s Atlantis as a civilization and culture which rose and fell in a huge cataclysm. It is very strange indeed that we accept there was a cataclysm but see Atlantis as a civilization as conjectural nonsense. Then we wonder what to think when archaeologists find deep in the layers of the earth historical and cultural artifacts which cannot be explained by the present system holding up our thoughts on our own human origins.

If I see a train coming and your on the track...if I don't tell you, it will be a pity for you and a shame on me....

No gullibility here Greg....I am simply not guilty of living and functioning from a lazy mind.
I actually jumped into the fires of controversy a long time ago, the territory is quite familiar and I am not intimidated by it just as I am not easily persuaded...

Its well known, if you have done any research (lol) that the library of Atlantis is located underneath the Sphinx monolith in Egypt. Newly unearthed documents from this library state clearly that those who believe in Atlantis are gullible.
Thats proof enough for me.

Well I can see the day has found you in fine spirits and as ever living up to your Badass reputation...can't do much about the fact that it takes all kinds to make a world can I??
I can only tell you Greg that Plato's account of Atlantis cannot be taken too literally. While it is an account of a lost civilization, it is also a complex metaphor for cosmic creation and the evolution of consciousness. However, with little insight into the ancient wisdom traditions and their symbolic language, understanding would certainly fail you here...

Plato was yet another genius among us who shared his awakened mind.
Also i have been pondering the plato vision of atlantis,
and am totally going with my strong intuitive senses .. (womens intuition)
and boldly go where everyone has been before...lol
Because nothingness could never have existed..
creation therefore must have always existed.
So what is herenow must have always been herenow.
For all we know humans could well have existed for trillions even zillions of years.
Reality is cyclic in nature, not linear, although finite consciousness mostly feel a sense of linear motion through time.
However, we now realize time is an illusion and that creation has always existed forever,
which leaves our earth story of evolution,
with some rather big strange discrepancies to ponder.
Or it might be that i just have too much of a vivid imagination...lol
The plot thickens, we must never give up searching for the truth, the truth is out there .....as they say!

where did that knowledge come from?

Thanks Mel and I am not surprised to hear of your interest in Plato and Atlantis. Of course to understand Plato's account you have to understand the cultural background of his time when he was writing (c427-c347BC.) Its evident why he mixed an esoteric allegory with the story of an historical continent and its people if you understand the nature of the Sacred Mystery School of Greece and how its initiates were held to secrecy regarding sacred knowledge. Plato simply used the esoteric allegory to convey sacred knowledge to a wider public in safely guarded terms.
You also have to understand the Mysteries of the Greek Mystery Schools where The Eleusinian Mysteries were open to literally all people..men, women and children.
The Orphic Mysteries were focused on the experiential development of the psycho-spiritual individuality in man-the spiritualizing of the Ego. The tradition held the knowledge that through the sweet and bitter human experiences the faculty of psycho-spiritual discrimination was developed enabling an individual to distinguish between the qualities and forms of the lower spiritual world (earth inhabited by souls) and those of the underworld (objective human experience.)
It was a triparte system of thought where there was a Heaven World-Divine part of the ego/soul. There was an Earth World-Spiritual part of the ego/soul and there was an Underworld-the Terrestial ego/soul.
The Dionysian Mysteries which focussed on the progressive self-realization of the highest divinity in human nature. This was the part of their mysteries which were fastidiously ascetic.
Their Gods, demi-gods and heroes were esoteric metaphors representing natural forces and universal truths. All this and the great elemental deities concealed the whole mystery of humanities' own sacred progression, the gradual spiritual evolution towards self-realized Godhood. Remember that Tree in the Garden where the serpent said if you eat of it, you will know and see like the Gods....
How old Humanity is, is probably the question mark hanging over the entire mystery of Atlantis....

Thanks mikal as always for your very informative posts.
There is just no end to learning at this earth school.... i am a willing student..... have discovered that the only thing worth learning is the study of the ''SELF''
MAYBE WHY we come here in the first place, who knows?
Once we know, worked-out our-self, we can be at best a better service and help to all others.
Understanding is born into mind/world, and birth is painful.
The mind's obsessive need to understand, itself creates a shell which must painfully break.
This is the mind letting go to reveal the heart's knowledge.
Anyway, as for the age of humanity, i can't help thinking big ...
By that i mean ... what is there at the beginning is also there at the end ... we are the first and last knowledge.
Did the 'whole' of creation manifest it self into being all at once in a nano - second?
And has remained herenow nowhere forever.
Altho 'anything' can appear from any changing perspective,
Yet only unchanging Consciousness itself engages in the perceiving....
"nothing perceived can perceive".
Nothing found in Consciousness can have Consciousness - there are no multiples of Consciousness.
But sense perceptions - being more than one, and having apparent attributes, must be appearances.
"though this could never be known!" .. or should i say 'demonstrated'
Also leaving another link that might be of interest ..
Animal and Energy Bodies
Many religions and various philosophers,
including Wilhelm Reich , Peter D. Ouspensky,
Gurdieff , Rudolph Steiner , the Kabbala, etc.
state the human being is composed of an animalbody and an energy body.
The animal body is a result of our genes and ancestors.
The purpose of the energy body is to break the blocks and purify through the physical body.
The physical body is bound by all laws of physical nature and returns from where it began, the dust to dust of the Bible.
The energy body or ki, chi, prana, vital force, consciousness or soul (whatever you call it),
however, reincarnates in order to continue the evolution of a heaven on Earth.
