    Re: Consciousness, Transcendence & Integration

    Soul Growth-Evolution of the Soul

This topic aired on November 5th 1987. Here, Farley discusses Soul Growth in both awareness terms and as an identification purpose of harmony between the body and the Soul.
Back in the 1960 when we looked into the future and projected our thought to what things would be like in the 1990's, it is amazing that we believed people would be buying and flying hover-crafts like helicopters, and that there would be world peace as the normal state of affairs. We are still going through tremendous transformations on this planet, both worldwide and personal transformations. So today our topic of discussion is Soul Growth, the evolution of the Soul and what it is all about.

What is Soul Growth? It is overall awareness, meaning the more Soul Growth you have the more aware you are. I would also define Soul Growth in an identification purpose as a harmony between the body and the Soul. Meaning the body actually acts as a transmitter for information, ideas, and energies to be drawn in and absorbed from this third dimension and transmitted to the Soul, which eventually reaches the higher mind. So in my opinion the more Soul Growth you have, the more of a heightened awareness level you have, and the better your body becomes as a transmitter of this information that we have and identify as awareness from this dimension to the Soul.

People who have evolved Souls are more aware beings having experienced much Soul Growth and they have lifted their awareness levels. They have gone through certain changes, transformations and processed Karma or absolved Karma, and gone through certain situations in their lives (whether pleasant or traumatic) where the choice was given to them to be open-minded. By choosing this, awareness levels lift and they do experience Soul Growth. Also, when this transmitter called the body does improve—and more logical information is relayed to the Soul with the body as the transmitter, then that also allows us to absolve our Karma and evolve our Souls to levels which enables us to reach a qualification state. Then after this lifetime, the choice can be made to go beyond this dimension and to break free of the Reincarnation cycle that pulls us back to Earth over and over again, until we are able to learn why we are coming to Earth, and what this dimension is all about. To literally overcome its draw, its pull, its materialistic effect, the obsessions and selfishness that can be created by the conditioning that we experience in this dimension.

This thing with Soul Growth is interesting, and I believe that much it has to do with past lives. If the Soul cell as an individual particle of God has gone through lifetimes where it has already had tremendous Soul growth, where it's already gone through processes which I call the floundering philosophy where I feel that many of us are like either fish in a pool or like fish out of water. That even if we get out of the pool we're still floundering around, and our consciousness is really dwarfed by what exists in this dimension. So in many ways we are all struggling to try to figure out what is real and what isn't real, what is really going on in the Universe (at least those of us who are seekers). Now many of us have already experienced this Soul growth in past-lives, and are people who are candidates to experience also this Soul Growth which releases the awareness that we already know we have.

There are many people out there with Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer planets or planets in the 4th, 8th and 12th house. Maybe not only a little more sensitive, a bit more sexy, or passionate, but a lot more intuitive and more subject to plugging into your psychic self, or Higher self, and sort of accept the fact that there is more to it, than what we sense as humans. The question always arises in my mind, why do so many people remain dormant? They don't have any Soul Growth. They have surgery, go through major surgery, they have major accidents, fight in two or three wars. Even so, it never seems to effect their Soul Growth. Because most of us who are sensitive will go through a trauma such as a severe auto accident, surgery, a catastrophic divorce, breakup in a relationship, the loss of a friend, or loved one—and once we go through that we come out of it and say "wait a minute, that wasn't supposed to hurt as much as it did," and to me, the reason I went through that, was to evolve from it and to become better for it.

There is a really interesting difference here between people whom I identify as having a low consciousness quality, who are not used to having much Soul growth in their past life, so therefore it is harder for them to open their minds, and accept what is beyond their own senses, that is beyond the beer, television, newspaper, magazine, Bible, or whatever they read. People who focus their philosophy's limit themselves and get stuck in these dogma's, and no matter what happens, they just don't pull out. But then there are people like you, the typical member of the Astrology Hour club, who is so open-minded that instead of forming any bottom lines on anything, you are always willing to search, find and discover further truths. You are the ones who I feel are of a higher level of awareness. I have designated seven levels of awareness here in the Physical Plane:

People with Level One Consciousness would be so closed minded and dogmatized by society they might not even believe in anything. They might even be totally atheistic, they could walk around almost like drones, where there is nothing in life that is important to them, except possibly the money they make, the food they eat, the sex they get, or the security they have. I call them Level One Conscious.

    Re: Consciousness, Transcendence & Integration

Thanks Drift……that’s a very interesting piece. Interesting to me because when consciousness changes and transcends to higher levels of awareness—the journey is always emotional and one feels/experiences their soul.

That’s why Carl Jung said, ‘Emotion is the chief source of all becoming.’

I noticed the writer speaks of his personal trials, tribulations and life quandaries in reference to soul growth. This is because internal emotional suffering is the conscious building of character. I know from experience there must be internal self-contradiction that leads to polarizing the outer world with the internal world. It causes psychic discomfort and from that discomfort balanced consciousness is born. It’s born from the unconscious which Jung called, ‘our mother.’

Now I notice the writer states, ‘There are many people out there with Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer planets or planets in the 4th, 8th and 12th house.’ Now let me explain this if I may. The birth chart is like a universal picture or snapshot of your psyche (its intentions) recorded in the universe at the moment of your birth.

This is what my natal chart says in sign and symbol keeping in mind that I am a Scorpio rising.

“You will experience (Scorpio) transformation of your (1st house) conditioned social conscience. You will (4th house) birth through your (Moon) emotions, your (Aquarius) Individuality (mind/soul/awareness—individual part of universal mind.) Your (Libra) personal conscience shall be birthed (12th house) spiritually and shall be (Neptune) refined and sensitized.

Sounds simple—right? Nothing of the sort believe me. You see the 1st house also unites with the 9th house (higher mind) where Pluto (latent hidden energy) is and then unites back with the 1st house where Scorpio is, meaning—directing energy inward and moving from darkness (unconsciousness) to light (consciousness.)
Now looking at the 4th house, it connects to (Cancer) representing unification of masculine and feminine energy in the 9th house (higher mind) and then connects to (Uranus/Gemini) meaning the (Gemini) lower mind experiences (Uranus) purging, cleansing, atonement and suffering and all this in the 8th house (survival consciousness which is conditioned in.)
Now looking at the 12th house it connects to (Venus) meaning the soul has the power to transform matter, in the 9th house (higher mind/higher brain) and this connects to the 5th house (personal ego) where it is refined by (Pisces) higher emotion and is explained as ‘compassion is the desire that moves the individual self to widen the scope of its self-concern to embrace the whole of the universal self’—Arnold J. Toynbee

Now (Jupiter) which means expansion of the (9th house) higher mind reveals the purpose of your life. I have (Jupiter/Sagittarius) in the 2nd house which is a physical house so it tells me ‘your purpose is to (Sagittarius) study society, philosophy, social movements which will be a project which is physically undertaken’. The snapshot of that natal house for me is full of Sag things: books of higher learning/places of higher learning/bookstores/libraries, and reading. I travel the world but with my mind.

Now its very important to know and clarify that this journey is not about self-importance, that is sacraficed or purged in the experience—it is not about a sense of superiority or power over others.
This is clarified by Carl Jung when he stated below:

‘THE PROPER ATTITUDE FOR THE EGO IS REALLY HUMILITY’

‘THE EGO NEEDS TO BE HUMBLED IN ORDER TO ALLOW THE INDIVIDUAL TO DISCOVER THE DEEPER AND MORE SUBTLE WISDOM INHERENT IN LIFE.’

‘THE EGO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONSCIOUSNESS, ETHICAL BEHAVIOR AND DEALING WITH THE CONFLICT OF OPPOSITES’

‘WE MUST NOT CONFUSE THE EGO WITH EGOTISM OR INDIVIDUATION WITH EGOTISM. INDIVIDUATION IS SUBMISSION TO ONE’S CALLING AS A PERSON.’

‘OUR HIGHEST POTENTIAL AS HUMAN BEINGS INCLUDES A SPIRITUAL DIMENSION.’

‘Where love rules, there is no will to power, and where power predominates, love is lacking, the one is the shadow of the other.’—Carl Jung

So that’s your astrology lesson for tonight Drift and I thank you for inspiring me…….smiles…..and I’ll give you a little hint about Karma—everytime I stopped studying, my life fell apart at the seams (purpose is a powerful thing that drives us from the center core of ourselves.)

    Kind regards Mikal
If I see a train coming and your on the track...if I don't tell you, it will be a pity for you and a shame on me....

    Re: Consciousness, Transcendence & Integration

    Thanks Mikal,
Heartfelt inspiration filtered through a beautiful mind.

Spanda Spanda is a Sanskrit term for the subtle creative pulse of the universe as it manifests into the dynamism of living form. Spanda can be translated to mean vibration, movement, or motion, referring to waves of activity issuing forth from an unseen Source of spontaneous expression. On a more personal level, spanda refers to consciousness as it orients through thought and intention to organize into authentic action. You may experience spanda as a desire to live according to your own innermost urging, act in line with your interest, follow your curiosity, and attend to your body's natural rhythms as they harmonize within the grander scale of natural life seasons and cycles. Living in a way that keeps us connected to our core beliefs and desires brings health, stamina, and joy. When we lose our creative "spark" or spanda, disconnecting from our own personal expression of vitality, we lose energy, focus, and a sense of well-being and may eventually fall ill. Connecting with what drives us, feeling that presence in our bodies, is also when we are most aligned with the natural spontaneity that defines life processes. Yoga practice encourages this conscious connection. Through yoga we learn to listen attentively to our own inner guidance as well as work creatively with the archetypal forms and timeless instructions passed down through the millennia.

The archetype of the soul—there is a semi-dormant state of being and consciousness. Each group of species has a natural, subjective limit to its evolutionary development. Therefore, any further upward movement has either to involve a fundamental change (not merely a local adaptation) to its spiritual or subjective archetype, or alternatively that same spiritual archetype has to instill into the objective entity, something further of its own as yet unfulfilled nature. In other words, the spiritual archetype is only able to project sequential aspects of itself down into the material world in incremental fashion, according to due cycle.—J. S. Re: Consciousness, Transcendence & Integration

“A MOVING PIECE OF MUSIC IS THAT OF WHICH NOTHING CAN BE SAID AND ABOUT WHICH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMAIN SILENT”—VICTOR HUGO

“THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND MOST PROFOUND EMOTION WE CAN EXPERIENCE IS THE SENSATION OF THE MYSTICAL. HE TO WHOM THIS EMOTION IS A STRANGER, WHO CAN NO LONGER WONDER AND STAND RAPT IN AWE, IS AS GOOD AS DEAD.”—ALBERT EINSTEIN

I just completed a study into the human emotion of awe.

Basing a definition of awe on my own purely personal experience with awe, which is taken in studies to be a higher sense or message from a higher power that allows illumination and clarification about what ‘it all means,’ I would define Awe as: the moment our perception meets perplexing information that drives us into a time-consuming journey marked by questioning, doubting and drawing conclusions together for a more complete picture, until it causes fixed ideas of life to explode and shatter.

Dr Paul Pearsall undertook a neuropsychological study into the emotion of Awe and documented his findings in the book: Awe: The Delights and Dangers Of Our Eleventh Emotion.

Pearsall defined Awe as in a positive sense the power to doubt, question and exist in high states of observation and in a negative sense fright, shock and panic, alarm, dread, foreboding unease, apprehension and anxiety.

Although Pearsall implies what we see as negative he is truly talking in the sense that Awe addresses the infinite and baffling complexity of life and the fact that Life is full of horrible things that happen as a part of being alive. Horrible and/or testing life events challenge how we see and understand life. Having awe imposed upon you is where you must intensely contemplate upon events that shake your faith in life and disturb the solace, of any sense you had previously made about life. Awe offers endless time-consuming and often upsetting contemplation and reflection. Awe is unique in its capacity to create more consciousness chaos in the experiencer, but is how we find deeper meaning in all and everything.

Awe causes our cognitive map to change and throws us into a dialectic twilight zone where we are caught in the middle of good and bad, right and wrong, win or lose, faith or doubt, self and other and the power symmetry held in life. We are tossed out of safer corners and tossed into existential intersections hidden deeply in life.

Pearsall recognized that as a fundamental list of human emotion exists, only ten are documented by psychology, leaving out the emotion of Awe because Awe is an intense emotion that intensifies all emotions and awakens—somewhere deep in our evolutionary consciousness—our sense of accountability and commitment to life—it leads to some of our most introspective moments and is the decision to consciously engage with life.

Why is awe left out of the psychological fundamental list of human emotion?
Pearsall documents that psychology lists only ten emotions, which are ten ways we react to what life gives us but we have an eleventh, unrecognized emotion called Awe, through which we constantly create and recreate our lives. The ten listed emotions are how we experience and express life but Awe is how we transform life. Awe is an emotion that derives from being intensely engaged with all life brings before you—it is a human emotion designed to let us thrive as opposed to surviving or languishing through our lives.

Pearsall documents that our sense of Awe has atrophied into the materialistic search we have been driven into for the easy life on one hand and on the other hand, knowledge of the Awe Response has fallen into the wrong hands where leaders—both political and religious—use it against us to paralyze us into unhealthy states that benefit corporations (war armature industries/ pharmaceutical drug industries/enhanced security state industries/our current, don’t worry, me first, be happy, quick fix culture.)

Quick fixes are the theme of our present culture, these themes that judge us if we stay in confusing and challenging difficult areas of life. The Advise Industry that has risen up in the midst of this kind of culture offers gurus who have power from the outside, over your life—but Awe instructs from within—instructing us to tolerate levels of stress, test levels of comfort with anxiety producing moments and impulsions to staying longer or as long as possible in moments that don’t feel safe.

Pearsall laid out a foundation of four crucial questions in his book:
    · Is awe a message from a higher power that enlightens us about ‘what it all means or is it simply a physiological response that comes and goes?
    · What do our leaders know about awe that enables them to use it against us?
    · How do religion and politics and even the current media trends depend on awe and its emotional impact on us?
    · Can awe be a healthy or hurtful emotion, and what happens when awe falls into the wrong hands?
    ·

Lets examine if Awe is a message from a higher power!

Documented experiences with Awe reveal through statements:

There is some strange, endless mystery in life that we are privileged to grapple with.
Awe is a deepened sense that can come alive.
Awe is the anxiety of non-being that’s an unavoidable requirement of the experience of being itself.
Awe leads to profound awareness of being and also comes with a sense of sadness and shame for our ingratitude for the gift of life itself.
Awe—being open to awe means a willingness to reflect about what experiencing it means and what it suggests about our humanness.
Awe makes us feel, think, examine small and large concepts, explore memories and stand on the periphery of fear—all issues that are manifestations of the same mysterious forces of our speeding lives.
People, places, events and situations inspire Awe—that which fills the world.
Awe’s risk factor is constant mental and spiritual upheaval but the reward beyond sadness and struggling towards meaning is an intensely connected life that results from the courage to struggle with mysteries we sense but will never ultimately solve—becoming fully engaged with all of life, where one becomes a crucial part of its inexplicable essence.

What is so important about Awe, in the make-up of being fully grounded into one’s life?

Psychological studies into Awe as a human emotion relates conclusions that it is in our nature to evolve Awe because Awe is about our being fully present in our lives and fully engaged with our life, the lives of others and life itself.

Why and how is Awe as an emotion different than our other emotions?

Awe is shorter than other emotions, which allows it to leave an imprint on consciousness, an imprint, which is hard to ignore or deny. Experiences with Awe cannot be managed, controlled or sustained for a long time—our toleration for awe seems to be short, small doses—but we can think about it for a lifetime.

Awe always causes major shifts in consciousness and awareness because the awe response is our maximum state of full and total observation, which evidently means that all the aspects that comprise awareness are conjoined in that moment. The conjoining seems like a moment involving a diminished sense of self where one is freed to be more fully connected to life in its broadest context.

Awe happens at the juncture where the perplexing association of the world connects with our perception of trying to process an understanding of what is happening to us.

Einstein called experience with Awe—mystical. Perhaps that is because an experience with Awe is a humbling one, constantly damaging to our self-esteem and leads us to the knowledge that feelings of personal power and self-importance are levels of illusion.

The following is the result of my own experience with Awe and is of course in one instance why I draw immense privacy around my life and in another instance is why others so misunderstand the extraordinary seriousness involved in my response to life and relationships I am gifted to share in life.

“In Awe, love is companionable; it is the sharing of a love so profoundly deep because in it is the knowledge that those who surround us as companions may not make the whole journey with us nor we with them. Awe instructs us to develop persistent patience and tolerance because it teases us with clues but never allows us to reach a satisfying, rational answer about life’s ultimate purpose.”—Dr. Paul Pearsall

    Re: Consciousness, Transcendence & Integration

I was hiking in the woods, alone, recently on a Sunday morning. The early sun was peeking through the mountains and shinning through the green leaves of the young trees close to my path. I felt a brief awe experience and then it dwindled as I continued. I stopped. I back stepped until I felt the feeling, again. I found the spot where the sunlight was, and stood there as the awe continued. I stayed there for some time. I filled myself up with the feeling, the sense of now, the experience of being alone in the woods and drenching myself with the awe.

I think I'll go hiking tomorrow.

    Time uncovered brings new insights.

    Re: Consciousness, Transcendence & Integration

Pearsall stated,” when inspired to awe, it’s not our individual self that is coming more alive; it is this deepened sense (Awe), which is more like the essence of our being.

Awe is marked by the ‘intensity of the moment it arises’ and as you say, you retreated back and tried to recapture the emotional intensity of that single moment but you found only lingering feelings could affect you, but feelings lacking the emotional intensity of when it first came about and that would explain why Awe is a sudden jolt beyond experience to a maximum state of full and total observation.

Awe seems to arise in an ‘intensely connected moment’ and in your case it seems like it was the brightness of the sun contrasted with the mountain and the green of the leaves. It’s a different experience as our normal emotions because just for a short moment you became fully engaged with a perplexing mystery that exists in the ultimate, inexplicable essence that lies in the conjoining of sun, mountain, green and leaves.

It seems that this deeper sense Awe is not about grasping the singular but is about grasping plurality where the singular thing ‘beauty’ is held in the essence of many things that suddenly conjoin and allow you a peek into the mystery of beauty inherent in nature.

I hope you have a good hike...

I follow your other thread TP…I see you are in awe of a possible mystery about the planet Mercury…smiles….

    Kind regards Mikal
If I see a train coming and your on the track...if I don't tell you, it will be a pity for you and a shame on me....

The awe of nature is the awe of Oneself.
When I see the light of truth I am in awe too.
    Nice thread,
