The Conscience of the Colony ... An apparent attribute called intellect.

Conscience (WIKI) is an aptitude, faculty, intuition or judgment of the intellect that distinguishes right from wrong. Morall judgement may derive from values or norms (principles and rules). In psychological terms conscience is often described as leading to feelings of remorse when a human commits actions that go against his/her moral values and to feelings of rectitude or integrity when actions conform to such norms. The extent to which conscience informs moral judgment before an action and whether such moral judgements are or should be based in reason has occasioned debate through much of the history of Western Philosophy.

Proposal:
There is no such thing as Individual Consciousness.

Consciousness Definitions:
Any process or mental activity that occurs over and above the basic survival decisions or reactions of any life form.
Anything that falls within imagination.
Any neural process that does not provoke an immediate physical reaction.

Statement:
Only multicelled coalitions have an attribute called Consciousness
... and Consciousness can only be determined to be an attribute
....... by multicelled coalitions.

This may seemingly be a paradox .... It is ... but it turns out to be a beneficial one for survival ....

Life has developed many forms of co-operative coalitions. Some known ... but at the present, most are unknown except to a handful of entities that are also coalitions.

In order for these coalitions to maintain an 'entity' or 'identity' status that does not break down from internal stresses a metaphysical control has evolved that delegates the autonomous, the reactive, the 'banal' to lesser neural control centers that are governed in the main, but not in the detail, by the overriding 'body' ... freeing it to speculation ... a necessary requirement. This presents as 'Consciousness', identical to 'Intellect' ... a coalition of the weak.

Wisdom is where you find it and not where you choose to look.

The above is a profound truth. It has not been arrived at lightly or in haste.
