    Cool time is a slinky

Hey Steve, where are you when you're having a deja vu? Just kidding. I am not sure I agree with the linear notion of time (which I think underlies your hypothesis) which would superglue you to now.

Any event that has occurred can be recalled from memory, but you are not reliving that moment, merely recollecting that moment from your memories.

If Time were a true dimension, then you could travel along it in both directions. As it is, you are always stuck in a single position - now.

You can anticipate a future now and remember a lot of past nows, but no matter how hard you try, you can never leave the point that is now.

    Steve.
I tend to agree with you there, how would you reconcile the
idea, that if say youwere on a planet, say 100 million light years from earth, and further suppose that an observer there had a really powerfull telescope, would he be able to see the the reptiles of that time frame??

    just a passing thought.
    kind regards michael.

What you see through the telescope is the events that occured when the light left the planet you are observing. If the light takes 100 million light years to get to you, then you would see the events of 100 million light years ago.

The one fundemental property of time that sets it aside from everything else is that no matter where you are in the Universe, here on earth or 100 million light years away, your Now will be perfectly in sync with everybody elses Now.

You can never get out of sync with somebody else's Now.

It is a somewhat simplistic view of Time, but it does fit the facts.

Reativity only deals with elapsed Time. A person at the event horizon of a black hole will still be syncronized with you, even though they will experience elapsed Time at a much slower rate.

Would not a person within an event horizon,be in extreme danger, andwould he not be somewhat stretched?

    kind regards michael.

He would be beyond help and feeling a bit depressed, or should that be compressed ?
Anyway, whatever his predicament, he would still have his time syncronized with you.
