    Cool The ultimate cosmology quiz

The quiz is "answer a question, ask a question "type
One who has the right answer must verify from the asker of the question.

    My question is-
    Suppose,
newtonion gravity says that sun's gravity is causing the earth to revolve,if sun disappears suddenly ,at that very moment earth will leave its orbit and will move tangentially.
    what is wrong with Mr.Apple.

Cool Re: The ultimate cosmology quiz

krateesh, if newtonian gravity is correct, there would be nothing to hold the earth to its orbit. I'm not sure if decay is the correct word, but certainly according to this logic, the earth would stop revolving in circles and then head in a straight line (ultimately)? or perhaps it would be captured by the gravitational pull of another heavier body (Jupiter perhaps) and perhaps could crash into that body? I actually don't understand why the earth doesn't crash into the sun...(total newbie!)

Nice idea but that's not the wrong in mind of Mr. Apple,
I was Talking about all planets.rightly,u said that they will leave their orbits.
Again read that problem i hope u can find something wrong in it.

    Re: The ultimate cosmology quiz

Gravity travels at the speed of light, supposedly. So it would take 8 minutes for the Earth to be affected.

    Re: The ultimate cosmology quiz

    That's right!
it takes time to get ripples reach earth.
    ok,another question.
Which travels faster pulsar or a magnetar?
also state the physics law applying to it's conclusion.

u should also ask questions to keep continuity in thread!

    Re: The ultimate cosmology quiz

Are you referring to the velocities of the physical bodies or their radiation? In the case of the neutron star, are you talking about the radiation or the magnetic field?
