    Cool How many Big bangs?

u are well known of the recent theory given by Neil turok ,are there any possibilities that it will really come as a theory or it is really a"monkey act" as said by someone .U are well known of that dispute,if not please google..

However an article on this has been written by me.but i wanted to make a thread on ur views on number of big bangs.

    Re: How many Big bangs?

Turok said that membranes collided. Hence the case of Big Bang does not arrise. It is many bangs but not big band. Lets face it. The overwhelming evidence still favours the Big Bang. Also if there were multiple bangs, then there has to be phase difference in the CMB. As of now we havent discovered any phase difference.

Krateesh, perhaps it is one big bang per universe, surely that is sufficient is it not?

Are you quite sure of this dipayankar? I would like to see your source reference. It would more likely be different wavelengths of CMB. One band for each bang and not a phase shift for each bang.

yes, iagree with u. with still no evidence of phase difference in the CMB it is still most appropraite to stick with the bigbang, as it is the only theory which gives answers to most of the queries regarding the universe.

oh! there is a misunderstanding , u are thinking that i oppose one big bang theory.
i am a die hard follower of big bang (inflation) theory, i also do favour only one big bang.

    Re: How many Big bangs?

Lets put it the other way... did each collision bring about a new Universe? If yes, then the CMB will be uniform and it was formed out of only one collision. If multiple collisions brought about the same Universe, then isnt it possible that the CMB will have phase difference ans as you pointed out difference wavelenghts. It is a good way to test how the Universe was formed. If the CMB is very uniform then most likely it was one 'bang' if however we notice major variations, then the case for multiple collision holds water.

    Re: How many Big bangs?

Phase differences would only occur if each bang was of a different medium or each medium had different physical absolutes.

What about when cmbr decays away completely, between each bang?

Hi Llyod, The CMBR has not decayed in 13 billion years. Will it decay between bangs?? I doubt it...
