can anyone tell me what is a wormhole and did it really exist?
If it does pls explain..ty
Merv,You pay your money and takes your choice? Some in science claim that wormholes
must exist, while others say in physics say not!
I personally think that they do exist, but as with many other things, cannot PRove it?

A wormhole connects two distant points in the universe by an opening. If the universe had mapped itself out before expanding, the places it deemed to connect could have been found in wormhole(s). Empty spaces that allow for quick travel to a part of the universe that may not be found reachable ever again. It makes you think that one can go through eternity or take the fast track to instant there based on your ability to detect a wormhole in space-time. Kind of hard to use them if you don't believe they exist. Currently, NASA says they do not exist, but they will answer questions about them theoretically. Just try askNASA.

Do you think that NASA would really reply Michelle?
Worth a try though/

Everyone here has posted that wormholes might and might not exist, have been proved and disproved. But I thought it was interesting to note that if wormholes exist, then the universe of Einstein falls down at least partly. Travelling in space without travelling in time (or travelling in time without travelling in space) is impossible according to Einstenian physics. Wormholes or un-related to motion time travels, are hypothetically impossible. But the dreams of today are the reality of tomorow.

I agree with that, also there is the saying that if it can be thought about, then it is
possible to happen.

Ok, so this is a rather old thread, but I thought I'd reply anyway.

Wormholes can theoretically exist, but the mouths do not stay open long enough for someone to travel through (or, in fact, for any information to pass through). In order to keep such theoretical wormholes open long enough for travel, we require the use of exotic matter. Since we havn't found such exotic matter yet, this point of "disproving Einstein" is moot.
