Waste disposal is an emergent problem of modern society. Its impact on the environment is still not completely assessed and it is also becoming a day to day problem for many countries (developed or underdeveloped) specially their inner cities and densely populated areas.

Natural waste is easier to dispose and to neutralize. However, artificial waste of nuclear and chemical derivatives is not and doggedly presents a practical challenge for the environmental engineers. Like the waste itself, this engineering profession emerged and evolved as each major obstacle is surmounted and each lesson learned cycle is developed. Nevertheless, there is another deeper and more subtle emergence to which no environmental engineer can hope to solve: the emergence of artificial mental waste.

Similar to increasing entropy, mental waste increases exponentially. The best that scientists can do is to minimize its accelerated rate of decay. Natural mental deterioration is known as aging which is unavoidable and eventually affected everyone, every living thing. However, premature mental deterioration will be called washing, short for brainwashing. This seems to affect the younger generations more so than the middle or older generations. Some of the effects are loss of goal-oriented activities, a sense of purpose, sociability, seriousness, self-respect, self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-motivation. On the other hand, gain of purely fun-seeking activities, egocentricity, recklessness, helplessness, self-isolation, self-doubt, self-mutilation, and self-destruction. The totality is the loss of identity or quantum of life. Taken as a group, these quanta of life to be studied in a new scientific discipline called quantum biodynamics (QBD) is the only living force for the continuation of our existence on planet Earth and beyond.
