A Key - avoidable - Social Bogey & KillJoy - 06-28-2007, 11:52 PM

Aka:

'Gothca'ism.

'OneUpManShip'.

Unwarranted empowerment of self at other's expense.

Unjustified putting down of someone else to elevate self.

Abrasive name calling and denigration, w'out justifiable cause.

Are these not among the grass roots of serious and avoidable - frequently escalated/perjorative - sociopolitical trouble of every personal and administrative description? The progressive inclination here moves from thoughts, to words, to actions. One may only draw one's own conclusions about the personal history and character of any chronic verbal abuser.

The Reader may cite further descriptions and/or elaborate examples of their own experiences with compulsive social predators.

(George Berkeley, 1710) ... lay the beginning in a distinct explication of what is meant by thing, reality, existence: for in vain shall we dispute concerning the real existence of things, or pretend to any knowledge thereof, so long as we have not fixed the meaning of those words.

"All things come out of the one and the one out of all things." - Heraclitus
"Reality is an illusion - albeit a persistent one." - Einstein
"Particles give me a headache." - Ibid

Thanks RP,another dispatch of thought provoking ideas.I have often in the past been accused of being a social bogey, with regard to my "not going with the flow" of accepted
theories, and being the "odd one out",however I did try and not be rude and dismissive of
others ideas and opinions.

In my experience of working closely with others for over 35 years, including several years
of actually living together in a hostel-setting which I managed, where all the residents had
deep emotional and mental disorders, you learn a lot about human behavior, those that
constantly try and bring down others, are among the sickest and saddest, but many like this did respond well to being accepted and listened to,and actually feeling valued.

regards michael.
