Peace On Earth

Peace will not come to earth until every so-called sovereign nation surrenders it's power to make war into the hands of a representative government of all mankind. Political sovereignty is innate with the peoples of the world. When all the peoples of earth create a world government, they have the right and the power to make such a government SOVEREIGN; and when such a representative or democratic world power controls the world's land, air, and naval forces, peace on earth and good will among men can prevail---but not until then.

To use an important nineteenth- and twentieth-century illustration: The united states of the American Federal Union have long enjoyed peace. They have no more wars among themselves. They have surrendered their sovereignty to the federal government, and through the arbitrament of war , they have abandoned all claims to the delusion of self-determination. While each state regulates it's internal affairs, it is not concerned with foreign relations,tariffs, immigration, military affairs, or interstate commerce. Neither do the individual states concern themselves with maters of citizenship. THe United States suffer the ravages of war only when the federal government's sovereignty is in some way jeopardized.

The nations of earth can begin to enjoy peace when they freely surrender their respective sovereignties into the hands of a global government -- the sovereignty of the bortherhood of men. In this world state the small nations will be as powerful as the great, even as the small state of Rhode Island has its two senators in the American Congress just the same as the populous state of New York or the large state of Texas.

There would be no assurance that a world government would be a democracy. Our present nation to nation government is anything but a democracy and a democracy in name only....we know this because we are not FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never going to happen: different cultures do not believe in the same method of government, or even of living. How you can have one government in charge of all these different cultures, and trying to do the best for each of them, is incomprehensible, and only a dream in some people's minds.

There would have to be some kind of representative democracy to bring about the Brotherhood of men and sisterhood of women. Otherwise it's what we have now, or worse.

Each member state could govern themselves any way they want. The World government would only help member states co-operate. The worlds militarys could be turned into the worlds police force. No more war. Only police actions. There would be no longer any need for neuclear weapons.

Jag....I don't think we should confuse the idea of the Brotherhood of Humanity with the idea of a World Government. They are definitely two different ideas....

If one man is to be absolutely free, then another must become an absolute slave.

If one man's freedom become another man's slavery then world peace is not possible - In my opinion the only way to have peace is through that which rest between the spiritual and factual = our minds.

If man had good will toward his fellow man without hidden agendas we would NOT need a government - As a matter of fact the only way to have peace on earth is to eliminate the need for any type of government - because as long as we need to be governed by outside influence we will have war.{IMHO}

Hi Knot_me.....I totally agree with you. Peace first must be found within ourselves before we can live in a peaceful world. IMHO life should really be about self-governance which eliminates the need to be governed by an outside force of government because an outside agenda of governance has its roots in power and determines society as a rigidly formed structure of class system rather than humanity as living with and from a sense of shared community....

If one man wants freedom --liberty-- he should remember that all other men long for the same freedom. Groups of such liberty-loving people cannot live together in peace without becoming subservient to such laws, rules, and regulations as will grant each person the same degree of freedom.

Religion makes it spiritually possible to realize the brotherhood of men, but it will require mankind government to regulate the social, economic, and political problems associated with such a "goal" of human happiness and efficiency.
