Some good ideas floating about here, I was just thinking that if the magnetic poles did reverse, then it wouldn't affect the magnetosphere, it would just be the same, there would still be a magnetosphere wouldn't there?
Does it make sense that larger objects exert a larger magnetic field/force? Does it follow that larger objects have more atoms, and every atom has a + and a - charge, we know that charges are connected to electricity and electricity to magnetism. So the more atoms an object/mass has, the greater magnetic field it generates? This could also explain why an object would have to be as big or bigger to escape a planets magnetic pull, rather than its gravity
