We are taught that mass is a measure of quantity of matter. This idea always troubled me due to the fact that mass increases when an object’s velocity increases. A true measure of quantity of matter would not change with motion so mass must represent some other property of matter other than a quantity of a physical substance. By separating the mass due to velocity and calling it “Relative Mass”, science has provided a fix, but has not provided a solution.
The conservation laws states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. If we view energy as the motion of physical substance, then we must conclude that this law is valid only if motion of a physical system is a fixed constant and thus “Absolute”. We currently say that energy converts to different types of energy when in reality it is the motion of the matter that is changing from one type of motion to another.
The wave motion function of matter is what provides the degree of freedom and random motions of an object. Matter with only a wave function has no mass value. Mass comes about when quantities (quantum units of matter) acquire uniform directional motion of either linear or angular motion. Another type of uniform motion comes about when the wave function of matter acquires symmetry to form standing waves of localized matter we call particles. What we call the forces of nature are usually surrounding matter that acquire levels of harmonic wave functions relative to the particle or atomic system. Mass now becomes the measure of the quantity of uniform motion or the measure of symmetry of a system. David | |

The term 'matter' that you say composes mass, is made up, is undefined. There is no definition of 'matter', how can you define Mass with an undefined term. If you paid to be taught this, go get your money back and go to MIT.
Mass IS three dimensional acceleration. The smallest quantum of mass is spherical, quantized, three dimesional acceleration. It requires acceleration to detect these quanta. These small quanta group forming particles and some group about large points of divergent acceleration forming nucleii.
Light and Mass are direct products of the behavior of expansion and the 'quantum effect',.... they are not products of harmonics of some wave function.
Symmetry is fixed in a vector space, primarily by time vectors of acceleration within the function of expansion.......Q7

Could aether (supposing it exists) play a role in increasing the mass of an object as it accelerates? If it is a fluid like medium, then could the principle of superposition be applied? Except increasing the mass instead of size (somehow)? Or possibly the ever evasive gravitons are responsible. Just like the myth stating you get wetter when you run in the rain; maybe an object accelerating through space gets 'wetter' with gravitons giving the illusion of an increase in mass. Or maybe I'm just talking out of the wrong end here (because I'm no expert). Haha.

I am reminded of the first Superman film, where the villains are sentenced to constant acceleration to the point that they become a plane. They yet have mass, but it occupies a reduced volume. They are not eliminated, just booted out of the world to some far away place at light speed to re-enter reality when they have slowed down enough.
The ether of space are like conical bosons, all of whose individual spec points of origin are revisited when they have spun to a quantum boundary by diving back into their vortex to recycle through the energy spiral in the perpetual acknowledgement that continued existence requires defining its space. Pop a Bugle in your mouth and think hard. These are very small specs and there are no gravitons in matter. Gravity is just another anomolous accommodation to three dimensional reality, like the expanding of the Universe, or quantum mechanics.
If the conical shape of the bosons that define space are pushed to resemble a flattened deep dinner plate an effective increase in the boson's energy per time and volume is encountered. The space it defines now has a reduced volume. Spatial density to an observer is mutable.
When the effective volume between two objects in space is reduced the tendency is for the objects to appear closer together, but matter subscribes to the rules of our physics and the mass momentum produced by this motion results in the effect of gravity as abserved in falling objects. The distortion of the bosons is the effect of the displacement of the space by the mass. Space wants to be contiguous and consistent in density. The orientation of the bosons is with respect to the centre point of origin of the displacing object. When boson fields from two objects overlap, they produce a sort of cancellation effect, like what happens with two EM waves superimposed 180 degrees out of phase with one another. The net result of the interaction of the boson fields due to their relative orientation is reduced volume, and we construe this as an attractive force.

As Q7 stated, “matter is undefined”. My use of the term “matter” is in respect to stating it is the fundamental physical substance of the universe. The fact that it is currently not well defined is why it is called by so many other names. The most abused term for fundamental matter is “ENERGY”. OK let’s look at the state of matter that produces the phenomena of space. Yes Telsa, space is a medium. It is commonly referred to as “spacetime” in today’s mainstream science but it was originally referred to as “ether” or “aether”. This state of matter is a chaotic vibration of wave functions of matter that produce interference interactions of waves and thus create the short lived special unit of matter that baudrunner is referring to as a spatial conical boson. My only disagreement here is that the spatial boson (Higgs boson or quantum unity particle) is the localized spatial matter that acquires a quantity of angular momentum and thus momentarily exhibits mass. Viewing it as a three dimensional vortex may only lead to confusion. The uniform motion of spin allows the matter to condense due to it’s bonding property increasing with synchronized uniform motion. If the spin is enough to cause this domain to become autonomous, then the virtual particle comes into being. This unit becomes autonomous only if its total quantity of motion is equivalent to the value of “Absolute Motion”. It is the destructive wave interference that creates expansion and the repulsion of like charges. It is the constructive wave interference that creates the condensing of matter that produce the forces of nature including gravity. Constructive wave interference creates synchronized uniform motion and thus the property of inertia or mass. Matter can be viewed as being in two unique states: 1.. The quantum unit that forms the structures of subatomic particles. 2.. The quantum foam (ether) or unstructured matter that interacts with the structures of matter to produce the fundamental forces of nature. David

Lee Smolin has calculated the smallest unit of space that can be occupied by a volume. He has it pegged at 10^-43 of a cubic meter. It isn't just curious that there should be such a limitation, it is curious enough that there is anything here at all. But once it (creation) begins, there is no holding it back.
Angular momentum is that which prevents an object from hurtling into another object but instead encourages its revolution around it. Evidently the comet Shoemaker-Levy did not possess the angular momentum that prevented it from colliding with Jupiter. There could be more objects revolving around our sun but there aren't, only so many possess the angular momentum, which term describes nothing more than the tendency to defer collision in favor of orbit because the angle of approach is not sufficient to cause collision.
The reason for the above mini-diatribe is to point out the influence that size and mass have on particles and objects (in physics, the terms particle and object are interchangeable). So even at the nano level we have particles that will never directly meet head-on unless coerced into doing so, which makes a little more sense when viewed in the same context as neutron behaviour, in which the neutron will never make contact with another particle in its journey through the earth. It's just so darn small.

My own calculations place the smallest volume of a matter particle to be at 10^-68 m^3. To say that there is a smallest limit of space that can be occupied would depend on if you view space as a pure void or as a physical entity. I believe you are referring to a neutrino as being the particle that travels through the earth without encountering a collision. If you think about the neutrino as having an extremely short symmetry wave function, then it would not have enough time to interact with other matter unless it increases its mass. Science has only recently developed methods of measuring the mass of a neutrino. The state of uniform motion of an environment determines the inertial reference frame used to perform quantitative measurements. Science today states this as being the space-time reference frame as it relates to General Relativity. To simplify this, we can just say that spatial density of the environmental aether increases or decreases about an object as it changes its quantity wave function motion to uniform motion (mass). Commonly called mass to energy or energy to mass conversions. No magic, just pure physical behavior of a fundamental substance. David
