Well, maybe we can learn something of ourselves from observation of how subjective with 'truth' we can be? From there we can expand the question to a possible: "Why do I deceive myself so?"

Man does not lack understanding, for we have theories and faiths that go well beyond understanding.
There is no lack of knowledge, there is only a lack of truth.
Some of that man made understanding is absolutely wrong.
And that is man's or nature's absolutre true paradox of understanding.

Re: Natures Paradoxes - 10-16-2007, 03:03 PM

One bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
back to back they faced each other,
drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf cop heard the noise ,
and came and shot the two dead boys.

Alive or dead, it's all the same stuff. The choice of the words, matters none at all, to me...

The point is, "It's all the same stuff." It's just living is usually denoted by bio-chemical complexity, so there'd be quite an argument with the world mind, if all were clasified as living substance. I for one don't, and can't ever, think rocks and stars are truly alive, although, it's only a linguistic choice, to me. Alive or dead is a subjective analysis, and can only be decided by agreement, not scientific proof. Many of our words and concepts, were dicided by agreements, long ago. That's the history of linguistics___another story...

Graybeard,

What you posted - http://www.goines.net/Writing/time_space.html - would be a good counter argument to Peter Lynds' hypothesis. I like to simply follow the implication that "h" decreases as "c" increases. The frozen time is representative of absolute speed, and observed time as relative velocities.

Lloyd,

Good point, and that is why I am here, to find out what the "stuff" actually is and isn't. we can't just say that stuff is matter or energy without delving into what exactly the substance is.

If we both agree that it is based on spacetime - alive or not - then I agree. Though, as we have gone into in waves and out waves before, I'm not sure we will ever interpret the cause in the same respect. Perhaps only if mind and body were considered the same, then we wouldn't have to bother with the prime factor.

That poem sounds like a bad nightmare, Dave.

I think some might argue that it's a bright day on the other side of the planet, and dead boys were fighting in hell.

It's sort of what doesn't come to mind when I think of nature's paradox, though.

Just a whimper from the 'void', Nob. When 'logic' fails, resort to violence. No change there... Hardly science though, is it?

Not at all Greg. I now understand that it is possibly Humanity's only hope! I know that sounds pessimistic, but it is actually not when it is realised how far from Reality we have strayed. The truly pessimistic option is to do nothing and pretend it isn't happening... (Or appeal to some authority like the 'cops' or 'CIA', of course..)

Our contradictions are killing us, and those who promote more of the same simply do not care enough, or feel as though they might have to give up something comfortable (their illusions!), which amounts to the same thing.
