    Re: grass field

All of those marvellous images of grass, while the world outdoors remains cloaked in white. I thought Caramel was going to ingest my laptop, even without salt, LOL.

In all seriousness, however, the monocotyledons and graminoids are presently and historically very important, whether one is vegetarian or not.

Besides their contribution to the food chain, the process of photosynthesis is part of the atmosphere we breathe and the transpiration of moisture impacts weather.

Breathing, eating, lounging on the lawn, is all connected.....

even a roll in the hay, giggles.........

I'll have to take a picture of Caramel rolling, it really is funny....

We exist within an energy field as the wind fans the grass
outwardly,so too our emotions fan us from within.

    On the sweet summer grass,
    The morning dew
    Decorates the blades of past.
    After a night under the
    Magnified moon and
    The suppressed stars.

    Forty Shades of Green
    40 Shades of Green

    Lyrics by:
    Johnny Cash

I close my eyes and picture the emerald of the sea
from the fishin boats at Dingle to the shores at Dunehea
I miss the River Shannon and the folks at Skibbereen
the moorlands and meadows and their Forty Shades of Green

But most of all I miss a girl in Tipperary town
and most of all I miss her lips as soft as eiderdown
I long again to see and do the things we've done and seen
where the breeze is sweet as shalimar and there's Forty Shades of Green

I wish that I could spend an hour at Dublin's churning suft
I long to watch the farmers drain the bogs and spade the turf
to see again the thatching of the straw the women clean
I'd walk from Cork to Larne to see those Forty Shades of Green

    Repeat Refrain:

    Re: grass field

Wild rice and true rice are grasses. Rice is a very important food throughout the globe, especially for people with gluten allergy. LW

Wild rice is any of the four species of plants that make up the genus Zizania (common names: Canada rice, Indian rice, and water oats), a group of grasses that grow in shallow water in small lakes and slow-flowing streams; often, only the flowering head of wild rice rises above the water. The genus is closely related to true rice, genus Oryza, which is also a grass, and shares the tribe Oryzeae. Three species of wild rice are native to North America:

Northern wild rice (Zizania palustris) is an annual plant native to the Great Lakes region of North America, the aquatic areas
of the Boreal Forest regions of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Northern wild rice is the state grain of the U.S. state of Minnesota.
Wild rice (Z. aquatica), also an annual, grows in the Saint Lawrence River and on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States.
Texas wild rice (Z. texana) is a perennial plant only found in a small area along the San Marcos River in central Texas.
One species is native to Asia:

Manchurian wild rice (Z. latifolia; incorrect synonym: Z. caduciflora), is a perennial native to China.

"Grass" by nickname only ggullet, LOL. Therapeutic value, however, is not in question.

    Cannabis

    common hemp
    Scientific classification
    Kingdom: Plantae

    Division: Magnoliophyta

    Class: Magnoliopsida

    Order: Rosales

    Family: Cannabaceae

    Genus: Cannabis
    L.

The term grass can refer to family Poaceae, the 'true grasses', or to grass-like plants which includes the Poaceae and typically also the rushes (Juncaceae) and sedges (Cyperaceae), which somewhat resemble grass. Another, more specific, term for the latter group is graminoid.

Grass may also be used to describe completely unrelated plants, sometimes of similar appearances to grass, with leaves rising vertically from the ground, and sometimes of dissimilar appearance. The term came about in the early 15th century, from the Old English græs, derived from the same root as "grow". A single piece of grass is called a blade.
