money itself has the sole purpose of being a medium of exchange.

so, if it must be, for the sake of the minds of people...then the exchange-equation==must be balanced, and solved..priority of shopping=flat-lining the differences (killing money, perhaps eventually)

    Re: Your Shopping Priority

Of late, I have noticed that most of the potato chip companies are coming out with a new product that they call 'Baked Crisps' or some variant of this name.

They come in a variety of flavors and textures, including multi-grain varieties. According to one in the industry, these crisps are a way of making use of those small bits that would otherwise become a 'waste product'. A great many other constituents are then added to make these 'shaped and formed' crisps attractive as a product. A lot of ingredients, that are perhaps not healthy for one's body. Read the label and make an informed choice, would be my suggestion....

From one who flogs these products, I learned that many of the companies are produced from the same mill, the only difference being an ingredient or two and the familiar 'Brand Name' packaging. Yet, the difference in price, for same size package may be $1.33 as compared to $2.48, yesterday's shelf price, and the plain package product has been on sale for $1.00, just last week.

At the end of our conversation, we were in agreement. We, neither, eat potato chips very often, and on the rare occasion that we have a craving for fat, salt, and potato, the plain variety which lists only those three ingredients, is our choice.

The other interesting item that arose from our conversation, was that ripple chips far outsell regular chips. We formed the theory that the ripple chips are more durable for dipping, and that such was the aspect that foster their burgeoning sales, and the waist-lines of those who favor them.

With the Stanley Cup Play-Offs underway, sales of chips and pop, everywhere, are churning.........

Being's how I get food stamps currently... I just buy all organic...Even the 6$ organic milk.....I still don't go over my balance every month....

I buy organic celery and carrots.
    Organic Milk
    Organic Irish Oats
    Organic Teas
    Organic Beans and Lentils
    Organic Pasta
    Organic Fruits
    Organic Cereal, sometimes

Organic Meat is quite expensive....And you can't really find it hardly anywhere....On occasion, I could see myself buying an item or two..

    Re: Your Shopping Priority

Today's lunch was a kohlrabi soup, with some garlic, ginger, carrots and spices added, simmered, then mashed, with some 10% cream added just at the end to make it into a cream soup. It is a chill day out of doors, and a warm, spicy soup was most satisfying.

The kohlrabi was a purple skinned variety, grown in my garden. Very pleasing to enjoy the fruits of one's own labor, and yes, I grow organically.

    Re: Your Shopping Priority

My shopping priority is to obtain the best product for the best price, that the money saved may be deployed to other purposes.

The coup of the week involved hot chocolate, which is not a necessity, yet an enjoyable treat in moderation.

Summer is not the highest season of hot chocolate sales, save for evenings around the campfire or cold, rainy days. To promote sluggish sales, companies of seasonal products will offer sale prices and coupon savings as incentives. On rare occasion, the two will coincide, an oversight, I do not doubt.

Such was the case on Saturday, as hot chocolate had been priced at $2.88 with a 30 cent coupon discount. One day prior to the coupon expiry, the product went on sale for $1.50, and the 30 cent discount still applicable. Combined with some gas discount coupons I had in my purse, I purchased five boxes of 10 pouches, a good start on my pantry stock for cooler weather, for the modest sum of $2.64 cents.

A most satisfying hunt, that one.....
