All of your most popular religions today are base on old customs, alot of superstition and personal belief. No scientific fact or proof. The books used were written by men who had no real knownlege of the universe or the world they lived in. It was religious belief that kept them ignorant. They were not interested in learning the truth if it contradicted their religious belief. Most of the world's darkest periods were religious related. From early religious wars all the way up to our present time. An example of religious stubbornness, just resently the Pop decleared Galileo correct in his discoveries. How many years did that take? I don't blame the people, it's the teachers of religion that keep them clueless and these are "scholars, professors and doctors" doing the teachings. Most people have unanswered questions and all the teacher can say is to keep the faith because they have no answer or they don't know. These days people need more than, just pray or have faith. The religious leaders need to come clean and start talking the truth. Let the people know the things they teach are based on mytholigy and superstition. I think things can be explain clearer if taught properly. John Shelby Spong has several books out that has excellent teachings.
