You may think of something differently because you have experienced something I have not.
A question I would like every one participating to answer..
What is the number one lesson (most important) you have learned in life?
If I see a train coming and your on the track...if I don't tell you, it will be a pity for you and a shame on me....
Well I’ve asked a lot of people that question. What I have found is that most answer it with something they have found to be the hardest lesson they have had to learn.
Number one answer Family.
I also assume the answer, if not e
ntirely heart felt is based more on some recent events. I think that most thought processes are linked to recent memories or experiences. Most words that people choose to use are also based on words they have heard or used recently. You can test this by using a word to describe something that isn’t commonly used and then see how many times it is used to describe different things by other people. Yet we also use words that have been ground into us, “guys” instead of “you all”..
Anyhow. Its easier to relate to some one once you know what they refer to in their minds the most. I have yet to master what some one is thinking, but I can tell what some one will do. So it is interesting to me why some one will do something but think about it differently.
An excellent observation, Greenbug.Anyhow. Its easier to relate to some one once you know what they refer to in their minds the most. I have yet to master what some one is thinking, but I can tell what some one will do. So it is interesting to me why some one will do something but think about it differently.
May I propose a few reasons.
1. Conditioning. We are (most of us, anyway) taught a set of social skills that predicates the outcome of most common situations.
2. Personal Goals. To advance within many structures, you must conform to the expectations of that structure. As an example: Union employees are expected to act of similar accord and be supportive of each other. Management employees are taught to compete with each other, yet with the goal of supporting the advancement of the corporation. The rewards are promotion within the corporation. "Speak your mind" translates quite differently in the above two examples.
3. Lack of Experience/Confidence. This one I can speak to from personal experience. The greatest thing holding me back in life has been my concern of how my actions or thoughts might be perceived. I was raised in the tradition where women and children were seen, preferably not heard. At least some of my accomplishments were advanced to prove that I was as capable as any other.
Interesting to me at least, I have never been concerned if my opinion was entirely different from that of the group. I will change my mind if proof warrants it, but until proven, what matters any opinion?
To walk the lone path, you need the strength of your own convictions. With few others to lean on, experience comes quickly.

Well personal goals….. Miscommunication has always been a problem of mine. Conditioning is a matter of experience or lack there of. An example there. My child hood was hard and I didn’t enjoy it for the most part. So a word such as NASTALGIA has a negative meaning to me. Yet with some others it is a positive word. When some one speaks the word may set my thoughts in a negative way where as for others it maybe a positive thought process. Already just using one word will set our thought processes in different directions.
Meanings of words, set by conditioning or experience can allude ones conceptual idea of another. Yet I don’t have enough experience to comment on the topic of goal or drive oriented words. It is an interesting thought.
