you dont believe because you dont see or feel it? Or you dont believe because you dont want to understand it? Or you dont care?

i don't believe because to me it doesn't make sense (maybe i'm wrong)

so i care as much for the big bang as for a possible god (both null) or both together (again null)

and i can't understand both theories

I cannot talk with you about the theological implication of God, not to sound too condescending but because I consider God a very personal subject (meaning just between Him and me, I was raised in a Christian school and sunday school type of environment).

However, I can talk with you about the big bang theory, which is something I have some knowledge of since I have a bachelor degree in physics and my life long passion is to solve the controlled thermonuclear fusion as the ultimate source of energy for future generations.

If you would like to know more about the big bang let me know when to start, I still need to dig up some information and word process then paste it here, but unless you want to, I dont want to waste my time.

antoniolao,

there is no need to discuss the possibility of god or the big bang.

but you're certainly welcome to maybe advance my knowledge of the so much wanted controlled thermonuclear fusion. certainly i do know the basics and status of certain projects and further i do believe that time will come soon (my guess: within 15 years) for human being to get such a "baby somehow running" as required. if you're going to explain me this matter any further please only use content which is not already available to the public. does your life long passion have mostly a personal background or is any organization behind that? sure if it is a personal background then as soon as you suceed it transforms into an organization driven advancement.

best regards to dallas, ( i do admire you for living in texas - even if i've never been there (strange-isn't it? )- twice i came close - once around christmas in year 2000 we were already sitting in the plane to head for dallas as finally they decided not to take off because of severe winter weather conditions in dallas- so we went for las vegas - just to not stick around in icy washington dc any longer)

undef

To the original poster of this thread,

See "Simply, Everything", Third Law of Observation.

Redefining the original "invariance" to ANY other number will change the numbers (infinitely), however, the Laws of Physics will still remain in tact.

Also read the final three questions.

It is 100% independent research. I have been interested in fusion concept since 1974. Visited Princeton University Plasma Lab in 1975. Talked to few researchers. Tried to get into graduate program in Plasma Physics at the University of Maryland in 1976. For some reasons could not get accepted. Had to find other employments to stay alive. Recently, I decided to become a high school math teacher. Still on probational basis for a certificate license. I am teaching part-time, 20 hours per week, still not enough to pay for living expenses. Using previous savings for cost supplements.

It has been more than 50 years since fusion research started, still could not understand why the delay? It took about 10 years for thermonuclear fission from concept to application. There must be something missing in its concept. Maybe it is intimately connected to the principle behind a Theory of Everything (TOE)?

My hunch is that it could be related to magnetic helicity. The magnetic helicity is dual within the sun plasma dynamics. However, the magnetic helicity in the Tokamak fusion machine is at most only singular, weakly singular.

I'll say, it is good for you to admire Dallas, Texas at a distance. You really dont want to be here right now. The temperatures have been above 100 degrees Fahrenheit for several consecutive days now. Thank goodness, it's dry heat, the lesser of two evils.

how could you possibly not believe in the big bang? To me that's just ignorant.

ps. the universe will expand indefinitely, nothing can stop it

the delay in fusion research?
i guess there is still pressure (by pressure i mean we still have plenty of other resources) missing - we even could go further with other resources if we wouldNt be that much $$$ oriented(but don't get me wrong - i guess there is nothing wrong with that-in general i do think politics like in the us are best to pursue)

and i personally guess it will not require a toe to get it running - but as i'm just watching the topic via the media i cannot actually discuss it with you - i would lack arguments on the technical implementation as i've not gone making thoughts of my own until now in this particular topic- sure i've also heard of possible helicity enhancements - it sure is an very interesting field and final successors certainly will be honored by humas on earth for many years to come. and sure once running it will deliver by-products as we may realize - or maybe not - at least then we have something(one more technology) that's HOT!

my ignorance explained in a kind of logic manner:

in general i don't care much about the past - if i would then i probably would kind of cry for the next year starting now ... and i wouldn't know what comes afterwards ....

to me it doesn't make sense to dig in the past - sure it helps to get some rather minor problems/questions sorted out (to further you "dig back" the bigger the uncertainty will be if nobody else has record which can show us that record sometime- i dont't bet on that)

if i concentrate myself on present time and maybe try to project somehow my mind into the future (sure it requires phantasy and mostly i can suppose it is just fantasy) but to me it just gives more satisfaction

so-until now i never asked myself how the universe might have been "born" - i just assume it is like now and always was like now and always will be like now (sure there are some changes on particular points in space or whatever you call that - if i would go for myself to answer the question of a possible BIG BANG i would never come to an conclusion because i never will be sure if i'm right or not - so a rather go for the future ... everything from the past which fits into the present will carry on automatically into the future - sometimes you may look into the future and know what you can forget about the past .....

sorry for my ignorance - certainly i do appreciate your questions straight out

so for me it is more logic that everything "always is"

you might have another opinion and sure that is ok!

further i do appreciate having the possibility to talk to a rather unexpected number of young people in here - i didn't expect that when i first entered this forum ....

robert: what about a statistic which shows age of members (just in case you kind of stumble accross this message)

By your assertion, are you also implying that the universe will live forever. It is a fact as of astronomical observations, as a consequent of the expansion, that the universe is cooling down. Its measureable temperature is becoming less and less as centuries progress. Eventually, the temperature will reach absolute zero. What then?

Back to the title of this thread, the total number of souls in the universe (another way of saying energy conservation) will remain constant no matter what is the fate of the universe. In an isolated system such as our universe, no mass or energy crosses the boundary of its control volume. So mass and energy are both conserved. The volume is expanding but the temperature is decreasing validating the principle of energy conservation. At absolute zero of temperature, there is no more reason or incentive or motivation for the universe to expand farther.
