I suspect the Zeitgeist views death as a challenge to be overcome. I think they'll succeed more or less and create problems that will dwarf climate change on Venus.

In the meantime (and after I guess) war will be man's answer to woman's reproductive talents: you make'em, we kill'em.

    great topic

Of course the black woman in Africa doing the same thing on a little different time frame now since they started a bit earlier and do not have the City per ce to stay a while longer... now it is children raising children in the wilderness because the grandparents passed ... something north America has to look forward too and in fact most of the world soon enough.

As for war(s) I don't think that was ever the fast way compared to nature's talent ... i mean what war or for that fact collectively all the wars of all time ever has met the numbers of dead these last twenty years and dieing yet of AIDS 50 million so far and going up five more every year and every second a new to die ... but that is just in north America. We have already reached only twenty five percent in some areas left alive and 80% of them below the age of twelve and they too over half infected ... can you see the picture there?

There is still something fr-ankled in my mind that the holier then thou attitudes of South Africa Christian White Boor roots did not in losing the racial superiority thing they had going created the problem thinking only the low in there mind would be effected not the moralistic great white man... any back yard lab could have crated the shift of such viral form in just three or four generations of petri dish .. and even now it changes in the human condition to get stronger to last out of the host for greater time and circumstance such as being able to be airborne soon.

    what then?

    take care Peace! Graham

The purpose of our existence is to choose what we exist for. The "problem" is choice.

Everything has it's meaning, and everything has it's purpose. I can't tell you what either could be for you. Is there a difference in meaning or purpose?

The first 'something', having no cause, need not, I mean, could not have purpose or meaning. But then what of what became from it? It was a workable path, that being its only relative meaning to us, a part of it, but still with no purpose nor any absolute meaning. There's no other way.

No purpose or no meaning, is not the way, it's every other way. Many paths, one mountain. To each his own, meaning or purpose, to find the (no other)way. Yet, this does not mean that others cannot help us find "our" way, nor does it prevent us from letting other's lose "our" way.

Therefore, due to knowing of the causeless, or of even not knowing…

Either way, one is free to be, which includes making of life whatever one wishes to.

That is, no strings attached other than our form that we are necessarily restricted to.

    Re: Loooking for philosophers

I think the meaning of life (or the ´´meaning´´ of anything) should be looked for in the area of language. I am no linguist, I only suppose meaning is a short hand reference to (multiple) previously existing concepts. Much like in consciousness itself, the vast domains are only represented by symbols, not spelled out in full detail on account of lack of ´´working space´´. Bringing these underlying symbols into full consciousness may be like opening up an anthill - or writing books.
I think too the problem of death requires a linguistic solution. For me it can only be an individual effort. I detest prefab attempts - but that is me.
The problem really only exists because of our thinking domain. The linguistic solution of this problem gave rise to huge industries. For those traveling first class ´´faith´´ never should enter into the collective solution. That is strictly third class stuff. Well, maybe only as a temporary measure when we are sure of the next step but it is not spelled out yet. Like the problem of birth for example. Or computer evolution.
