Dear Gil,
I read your post, and would be interested to find out more about what exactly you have in mind. Please write back and let me know.
Sincerely,
Tom
Hi Tom: It's nice to know that others are interested in the topic of the "meaning" of our existence. The first question I have concerning this matter is as follows: "Are we born for a pre-determined purpose or do we create our purpose?" From the answer(s) to this question I hope to proceed to the question that naturally flows from the answer(s) to the first question and that is: "If our purpose is pre-determined what can this purpose be?" and if it is created what should or could it be?" I hope this can serve as a our starting point in what can be an exciting and interesting learning experience. Take care and I hope to hear from you soon, Gil.
I think that it so interesting, I would like to know ,if how we are raised the First three years of our lives deeply affects how we think in terms of or purpose, Or do we find our "reason" as we grow?I am Catholic( unfortunately Brainwashed) trying so hard to shed it.I have never felt Truly ALONE(Always felt like there was some energy around me) , that's all I can say at this point . IMHO, We are a product of our envirorment. My research over the last 40+ years has led me to believe that everything is predestine and we have everything dictated to us based on our genetics, enviroment and experiences. As far as purpose, that is also dictated to us based on the previously mentioned items.
I do not like some of my findings, but destiny has taken me to this point. I refuse to give in to ignorance and greed.
Be carefull what you look for. You might find it.

I told my daughter about this Web Site(17yrs old) she immediately said "Mom what if we are in a puddle of water on a planet a billion times bigger than us? and one day someone steps on us"?I kinda laughed, but was in awe of her perception,I guess I have to add that I've always felt like we as Humans are under a Microscope(SOUNDS CRAZY, I KNOW)but I've always felt like life is a test,For what ?I am not sure, But I am very much on the belief side of Evolution.
First, let me welcome Gil to the Theory of Everything forums. I think you will find a lot of like-minded people here also searching for life's purpose or meaning. Hope to hear more from you on such a fascinating topic.
I have a rather sad thought I'd like to throw out for discussion. What if life has no meaning? Do we have the courage to consider that possibility? I don't believe that to be true, but I have been moving in that direction and certainly been considering the possibility. If our purpose is pre-determined, that means determined before we are born? before we are conceived? This may imply a higher intelligence, reincarnation, etc. There are books that suggest we choose our lives before we are born to work out our bad karma. More likely perhaps, is that our purpose is pre-determined by our genes, brain development, our inborn tendencies combined with our exposure to the environment. Like an ant in an ant colony, through our interaction with others our life may acquire a purpose. --Robert

Once I saw a dream, which realized in a while. Even all parts of a dream went in succession. The most interesting was that scenes of it and the people who took part in it were completely unfamiliar to me by that time. The final point was a song: A woman with a hoarse voice was singing some illiterate, unknown to me text and tune, which I tried to remember when woke up. After two weeks when the parts of dream began to realize I remembered the text and repeated it 20-25 times before the very woman sang. The text and voice were identical.
The probability that this happened randomly is infinitely small, even strives to zero.
And at the same time, even being clairvoyant, one isn’t able to see what will happen in a future if this future is undefined, so I think that everything is pre-determined, only our mind is restricted and we can’t always see it, and told above is good example for it.
But anyway I'm not quite sure of it!
Last night I was thinking why our universe is such a nauty pawky cheeky punky baby...now I can reliaze. Our universe is playing a game with other universes...and we are just some stupid spectators in it ?
