After watching the movie "Sicko", I want to add health insurance as another worst invention. Is America the only country in the world that makes people pay to stay alive and healthy?

I'm not sure about that one swoarg. It is what unites our global community. Dictators hate radio and television. Also I received a lot of information from the old TV. It also is a great equalizer for the masses, the illeterate can now join in the conversation with the literate.

I remember as a young man, watching man step on the moon. I'm not sure what was the greater achievement. Man walking on the moon, or our ability to watch it live from our homes.

I will grant you many people abuse the TV.

Best to all,

Pat

Re: The Worst Invention - 11-28-2007, 03:36 PM

good point Pat fortunatly for me ive watched alot of tv
and agree with you slightly simply because in the uk i find alot of people can only talk about what was on tv or celebrity,s but i see you are from the usa were tv broadcasting to me seems to have a bit more freedom than the uk in the uk (apart from three channels) there is an advert every 15 minutes sometimes less i hate adverts they even turn the volume up and down .sky tv offer you a digital recorder at a good price you can fast forward to miss the adverts but only in fast play so i sat and viewed the adverts (in fast forward)to see if you could avoid seeing what was advertised you can not even though fast forward missis frames out it still manages to show what is advertised and by who if you have one try it

Yeah, like America, which other countries?

Radio stinks in America too. My aunt told me that she was so excited about moving to America because when she lived in a communist country, she loved listening to American radio. When she got here she couldn't believe that the radio was limited to just local.

hmm's... lots of choices of mine are already taken... so i'll go with:-

hair removing wax
earwigs
wasps
mass food production
marmite
and..... mucus.

and I would like the joy brought by self cleaning ovens to be more universally recognised!!

Noah..... its about the water again....

Ok Ellie;

Earwigs, Wasps, and Mucus would not qualify as an invention, unless you are referring to an invention by God and/or evolution.

The others do qualify in that they are truly man's invention.

Best to you,

Pat

<glances over some other suggestions> alright alright alright!.... i was taking a wide view of the use of the term 'invention'.... to mean created; formed; contrivance; attributed; imputed or constructed… all without reference to the question of ‘how’...

I'll take back the earwigs and wasps.... but definatly NOT mucus *smiles 'n sticks her tongue out* you cant make me!

Noah..... its about the water again....
