    LOL Pat.

I was enjoying the poetry by ~ Susan Polis Schutz

Then reading the little addendum you wrote at the bottom, made me laugh out loud with joy and happiness.

God bless you Pat .... You are such a funny Profpat.

    Thank-you.

I would like the members to express their opinion on Love. It may be the physical, mental or spiritual aspect of Love.

It may be a story they wish to share. I know RP has a beautiful story and have high expectations from Austin. It may be a poem or an essay on the subject.

So what do you say can we discuss Love at this Holiday Season?

I'll start by once again posting THE PROPHETS essay on love.

(An excerpt from "The Prophet" by Kahlil Gibran)

Then said Almitra, Speak to us of Love.
And he raised his head and looked upon the people,

and there fell a stillness upon them.
And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams
as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.
Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest
branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them

in their clinging to the earth.
Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
    He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant:
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire,
that you may become sacred bread for God`s sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you
that you may know the secrets of your heart,
and in that knowledge become a fragment of life`s heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only
    loves peace and loves pleasure,
Then it is better for you
that you cover your nakedness and
pass out of love`s threshing floor,
Into the seasonless world where you
shall laugh, but not all of your laughter,
and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself,
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed:
For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say,
"God is in my heart," but rather,
"I am in the heart of God."
And think not you can direct the course
of love, for love, if it finds you worthy,
    directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
    To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart
and give thanks for another day of loving:
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love`s ecstasy:
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in you heart
and a song of praise upon you lips.

    THE PROPHET
Prof I like your thought that love unites because Bentov said "Love is the glue of the Universe."

I wrote this poem when I was on Love's threshing floor...

    THE VOICE OF THE POET

The voice of the poet, is but murmers..
    From the sea of eternity..
    The words...an uttering, from
the deepest depths of the heart of life.
    Its a cry from silence...
    And tears from the heart
    That understands love...
    Its a whisper..
    In the wilderness of pain...
    And a sigh that died...
    On the lips of yesterday....
    Its the breathe of God...
Which breathes into the poets pen..
    And the spill of ink...
    Is but lingering tears..
From the heart that knows too much love..
The words that dance upon an empty page..
Are the legacy of a thousand shattered dreams..
That seek to build a fantasy...
In the cradle of the poets mind..
Here is the ear which listens..
    With the heart...
For silence is the voice of understanding..
    And one embrace is countless...
    Spoken words...
    That will never fade away...
    For they were felt....
    And never heard...

That is a very beautiful poem Mikal...thanks for sharing.
And thanks for breathing life back into this great thread.
You can tell a lot about a character just from their writing.
    The word is from God.
Action is the work of God.
We must put our words into action, for this is gods will.

Well now, the Love subject always gets me all fired up,
what ever mask it is wearing.

So here is my contribution to love, this is a poem i wrote dedicated to my eternal soul mate Drifter.
Even though we haven't yet met up in the flesh, we know each other very intimately in the spirit,
i think we have probably crossed paths many times before in the physical world,
and who knows one day in eternity we'll come together as one being, ...(that'll be fun,& something to look forward to)

(hope he don't get embarrassed for me posting it)

A poem by melanie bell: dedicated to my best friend and soulmate Drifter.

    How love makes me feel.

    tenderly passively we drift
through golden miles of pearly sand
    intimately present hand in hand
aimlessly lost to this timeless haze
    as wondrous eyes lovingly gaze
drunk in love from sweet sea air
    arms embraced without a care
delightful dreams we dare to share
involuntarily our hearts collide as one
    in silent rhythm they whisper
    their hunger to belong
in harmonies song we sing along
a kiss ignites the embers of our eternal fire
    coming together in raptures desire
a smoldering passion that never dies
    as once again we realize
    loves captivating face
    revealing beauty in it's grace
    how oh how
    in this eternal now
a moment so rare is ours to share
while a shadowy cave lures us away
to a magical place we go astray
    through mystical doors we enter
    living our magical adventure
forever in bliss we are this
    together content in loves lament
a wish to be near to merge as one
    never ever to be undone
    surrendering now to infinity unknown
with no resistance we let go
    to a calling we know

( sorry drift, it had to come out, it was bursting)

    (i can't breathe)

This is an interesting quote, i like it.
Love is alone, all-one in reality, except for loves reflection.
    We reflect THAT

the reflection, is just a reflection, a mirage, a pretty convincing one at that,
unrequited yes, because the mirror image will always be nothing but the self looking at the self.

BUT THIS LOVE IS ALREADY ENOUGH.

" We already have everything we need.
There is no need for self-improvement.
All these trips that we lay on ourselves-the heavy-duty fearing that we're bad and hoping that we're good,
the identities that we so dearly cling to, the rage,
    the jealousy and the addictions
of all kinds-never touch our basic wealth.
They are like clouds that temporarily block the sun.
But all the time our warmth and brilliance are right here.
This is who we really are.
We are one blink of an eye away from being fully awake."
    ~Pema Chodron~

Here is A QUOTE i've taken from another Love thread started by PoPpAScience.

'' Pure Love is this experience of Evolution.

Love is not a physical entity, it is an non-entity, an Action. It is the Action of experiencing Evolution by our Universe.

Humans experience this Love through the perspective of the human experience.

Thus the human experience of Love is flawed. ''

I liked this quote...It speaks so much clarity.
''WE'' are the experiencing of LOVE

Physical love is unattainable, tis only through the spirit we come to know love.
    WE ARE LOVE

    Namaste love
    melanie.

    Re: Love Is....

    Do I believe in love

Do I believe in love today?
When no word you say is a song
To my yearning ears, to my soul,
    Captured in this happy tears.

Do I believe in love today?
When all you say, is a
Shrug and a smile, when by seeing
You my heart goes into exile.

Do I believe in love today?
    When my words don’t
Make sense to me, but just
Saying them would set me free.

Do I believe in love today?
When all I see in my eyes
Is me and you, with you around
My world is exciting and new.

Do I believe in love, when you say
After all the words I have put forth.
Why not, I say it with grace,
If everything I have said is the truth.

    Re: Love Is....

Some song I was trying to experiment with a few months back...
Its just a funny song, so, don't mind very much...

    Are you the one

I waited for the past and present
Knowing not what i'm waiting for
I'm waiting for the best to come
Coz I know the next could be the one,

    I'm seeing my future dreams
I know they are yet to come,
For that I'm waiting and waiting
Coz I think the next could be the one.

I couldn't tell this is true
yesterday when I was having a dream
But I see my dreams come true
Coz, i know the next one are you.

You are everything I wanted to have
And now that I got you,
It's time for me to go back in time
And start my search for a new.

I found a new one, I found another,
But none are as good as you,
They are pretty and they have the beauty
But they couldn't tell what you knew.

I have found you, I wanna have you
But now you are not around
I see you singing a pretty song
With a guy from outta town.

I had thought you were the one
I thought it would be the truth
For a while I thought it was a lie
And it turned out to be true...

    Re: Love Is....

“The Square Root of Three” by David Feinberg

I’m sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
    I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
    with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three

    As quietly co-waltzing by,
    Together now we multiply

To form a number we prefer,
    Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

From the movie Harold and Kumar.

    lol.....

A man falls in love through his eyes,
    A woman through her ears;

    Later it reverses…

A woman notes everything to be done,
But the man does not hear the seeing one.

    But there is still hope…

    As in the mariage
    Of the blind lady
    To the deaf man.
