Arrow The "real" sense of life and whats keeping us alive ?

"The sense of life is giving your life a sense."

How do you think about that sentence and what would mean sense to your mind ? Having a "good" life or helping others ? But what for if everybody dies one day either way ?

Another important subject in relation to that is what is driving us to stay alive ? What was driving the first one cell organisms on earth to reproduce and find ways to stay alive ? Werent they just a bunch of molecules, coincidentally sticked together ? How emerged the instict of staying alive ? Because all organisms ever had and always will have that instinct.

    regards Thomas

Tom....Life does not really make sense until you give your life a sense of something..whether that be a sense of purpose or a sense of intention...life is not too meaningful until you carry that process out...

What is driving us to stay alive??? Well I think we all drink from the River of Forgetting so we think the human journey is all there is...its only when we turn and remember we took that sip..that we realize truths and become driven to live as more wholly human..

I think the instinct for self-preservation emerged in the first attempts to attack, master and control our outer environment...because we had a need to be sustained by that environment...because we have a need to be protected from that environment...because we need to procreate and preseve our species..because we need to share affection...because we have a strong need for self-exploration...

I believe our instinct for self-preservation is much more complex in a modern world than it was in the beginning...

    Peace Mikal

Re: The "real" sense of life and whats keeping us alive ?

I believe that the beginning of the instinct to live is a pretty confusing topic. In this case it may be one of those things that are beyond our understanding. One reason why organisms ( or human's at the least) try to stay alive is because we rely on understanding and knowledge of our environment. Humans are unsure of what lies beyond death, if anything at all. Many who claim to know the answer aren't as afraid of death because it does not lie in the unknown to them.

In several cases it is the understanding of small things. In other words, we feel comfortable in our surroundings, therefore we try to stay within that which we have knowledge about so that we feel comfortable.

Earlier organisms somehow developed a similar instinct, likely of a small magnitude. It's pretty confusing overall.
