Sorry, I'm gonna squeeze one more post in here and give my opinion about whether or not proving something is vital to understanding. I'm doing this because PROFET raises a very good point with his quote from the Bible.
It is not coincidence at all that the Bible correctly explained the evolution of life on earth from water to land to air. They did it by INTUITION! I mean come on, it doesn't take a genius to sit on the beach and think "hmmmm I bet you life started in the oceans, then went to land, and then birds evolved last." It's just an intuitive conclusion! Can you prove it? No! Or at least religions couldn't at the time. So are we to forego what our instinctive insight is telling us, disregarding it until proof comes along? How can we discover anything if we only wait for the proof to come and tell us? That's the problem with atom smashers, they think they can just watch everything and they'll figure it out, like the TOE will just be given to us if we have an expensive enough accelerator or something. NO! We have to start with intuitive thinking, an idea, a Eureka, which to me is strangely enough not very scientific sounding.
It is true, the Bible is meant to keep us in the dark in many ways. The Bible gives us a form of understanding but no proof. If science proves God, then we'll know how God worked his magick, how he did everything. This is of course what God is trying to keep secret, so he only lets us know the things he thinks we need to know. We're on a need to know basis I guess, well the secret is out there waiting to be discovered. Humans are smart enough to figure it out, but we have to search deep inside and think of the most intuitive thing we can. Don't think about it too hard, it's not that hard.
always the best regards
