Wisdom and Knowledge - 10-16-2005, 05:20 AM

I can be sure that all of those who enjoy thinking have come around this question:

What are the differences, similarities and relationships between the concepts of WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE?

Well, I have a lot of thoughts around this one, which i will post in a generation of posts these days. But I want to first see what answers others have, or any tool that helps into answering the questions. Other questions around the subject can be given and/or answered in this thread. I particularly like this question because in my opinion it's answer woudl be a mayor link between important topics of philsophy: ontology, epistemology, philosphy of mind, and philosphy of life.

Smile Knowledge comes with birth-wisdom with age! - 10-16-2005, 11:15 PM

I think that knowledge begins at birth, recognising your, mother, father, and is
being added to each day throughout our lives, wisdom however seems to come
with age,and with reflection, expieriance,a sort of inner understanding that
crystalises into an almost intuitive awareness.Of course there are exceptions to
this,child prodigies being one.
What if you take, truth, knowledge, and wisdom, together what do you have?
A sort of synthesis of the three. What would that be called!any ideas?

kind regards michael

NON-HUMAN.

That is how I would call a synthesis of truth, knowledge and wisdom. But if you want a particular description, here it is: The main proeprty of truth is uniquity, which means, there is one and only one. The main property of knwoledge is that it is a fact of reality. The main property of wisdom is ability to apply general principles to any situation. Thus, the synthesis of them would be:
A unique collection of facts of reality that can be applied to any situation.
And this, my friend, if you haven't noticed yet, is what the TOE is all about.

Truth, knowledge, and wisdom synthesize into a sort of trust, a credibility.

Exactly. They are actually oppositew of believes, hypothesis, ideation... And yet, if we unify these three types of antithesis of not-knowing, then we end up0 with knowing what is not-knowing. If we unify truth, knowledge and wisdom we end up with principles, things in which to believe, ideations and hypothesis. It seems strang,e but we do end up like so. Becuase the impotant thing is that we humans woudl like to believe in what we know (truth, knowledge, wisdom), and know what we believe (to be sure that oru principles, hypthesis, ideas are true).

wisdom is sand...
and knowledge is the castle that you produced from the sand or glass or whatsoever...

So, in that sense, all humans should have the same amount of wisdom as they born and in time they learn to transform the wisdom to knowledge. Knowledge can be changed but wisdom not.

In other words, wisdom can be seen as the raw material of knowledge.
