Smile Loschmidt's Number? Avagadro's Number? - 12-31-2005, 09:08 PM

Avagadro's Hypothesis states that given one cubic centimeter of any gas, it contains, under standard conditions, the same number of molecules, which is approximately 27 million million millions(Loschmidt's Number). I must admit, I've never heard of Mr. Loschmidt.

Avagadro's Number states that for every one gram of substance, there exists 6.023 x 10^23 atoms.

Be careful not to mistake Avagadro's Hypothesis with Avagadro's Number.

I also know nothing about the other guy. But if it's to do with atomic or sub-atomic chemistry, it must be in the last 100 years definatelly. There should also be a correspondant Loschmitd hypothesis.

Those two sites are excellent last words on Loschmidt's and Avagadro's Numbers. Thank you kindly, Dr....
