    Physics FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

I thought I'd share the usenet physics FAQ, hosted by John Baez, a site that I link to quite often, with those of you who haven't stumbled across it yet. IT contains a plethora of answers to commonly asked questions in all areas of physics. Here are a few examples:
There are then discussions of commonly asked questions in many other areas of physics, including
    • Particle and Nuclear Physics
    • Quantum Physics
    • Relativity and Cosmology

    Enjoy!

Here's a link to a very good website giving explanations of physical phenomena, like Hawking Radiation, or Black Hole Thermodynamics, and explanations of theories like general relativity, string theory and "field" theory. http://www.physics.ucdavis.edu/Text/Carlip.html

I read the hot water versus cold water debate, since I was sure it was a mistake. Sure, I knew that there were probably some likely possibilities for it having occurred, but it sounds more prevalent than I could have imagined.

Now that I know how ice forms—see ultrawavetheory.com H2O water and ice page—I'll have to look into it more. The only thing I can say with confidence is that nucleation due to impurities is not likely to be of any concern in the issue. To the contrary, it would probably make it less likely.

Re: Physics FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Concerning unanswered questions in physics. It's really kind of funny when you have done as much work as I have thinking about how ultrawaves work; a lot of these aren't unanswered questions to me anymore. Baez's big question is right; when I solved how the quantum could be joined with relativity, it answered a lot of other unknowns. I'm an autodidact, so I am not able to put some of the answers in a form that is beyond question, but there are some things that I have been able to quantify. You will have to read my book to find out more.

On the cosmology side, I have ruled out dark energy and dark matter. The fact (according to ultrawave theory) that photons and neutrinos have mass, and the way that gravity has a particular directional behavior and limited reach provide an explanation for galactic formation and extent. It is only a matter of time until someone proves that the size of the central black hole is directly proportional to a galaxy's extent, so remember where you heard it first.

This sort of predeterminism is why I have lost all respect for the sciences.

There's nothing wrong with a little predetermism in most things. You are born, you live a certain number of years then you die. When you figure a way out of that predetermined set of conditions then we will have something to talk about.

    True.

    “Some wonder if the egg
Of this black hole was pegged
Before the chicken of the galaxy
    Or vice-versa.”

    “Well, on a previous row
    Out into space, long ago,
I noted that in the past times
That the galaxies were 30 times
More massive than their black holes,
    While present-day galaxies whole
    Are 1,000 times heavier told.”

“So, those holes in the past
    Were still growing, to last;
Thus, the black hole came first.”

Also, note more of an explanation of how galaxies form, in agreement, in Jack Hohner's 'Dynamic Matter Theory':

    Also true.

I thought that Witt's book "Null Physics" incorporated the expanding matter theory, I didn't know about this one. I haven't read it, but I read some reviews and thought I saw that in one. Maybe I'm wrong. Do you know?

Hot water freezes faster than cold!

Perhaps this is in part related to the fact that water expands as it freezes, where most other compounds are seen to contract.

I was in the Yukon one time. My steaming hot coffee froze so fast that it was still warm!
