Do other universes exist?

Everyone makes decisions in their lives which create their own timeline but at the same time they are creating an alternate universe in which it would be shown they made a different decision. This is just a theory, not mine but a theory and a very logical one. For example, in star trek the new film A romulan enters a black hole and kills Kirks father leaving Kirk and orphan but in the Prime universe Kirk grows up with his father seeing his sucess. Or another example you are going down a road to go to school which is on the left and the path to the shop is on the right. If you go to school you could get a good education and accomplish something. But if you go down to the shop you could bet suspended or a detention which will put a stain on your records making it more difficult to get a good job.

There is an infinite amount of possibilities at any single moment. You should read up on the M theory which explains that we live in a multiverse of a possible infinite universes. Your examples could be a reflection of this theory in human perception.

These theories are great in science fiction, but how should we prove the existence of such universes in our current universe? We can make suppositions, but can never prove. In order to prove we would have to enter a new universe...and we wouldn't even perceive that we had done so...nor would we have a way back to where the universe "branched" since time is a one way arrow. Would such a theory provide us anything more than foder for another science fiction novel.

Nor could we disprove such a theory. Such universes may exist, but there is no way to know (unless you have determined how we might be in this universe and observe that one).

A theory must by definition must be either provable or disprovable. The complaint against M theory is that it is quite likely not provable (since it suggests the existence of 10 to the 500 theories nature...one for each of the possible universes.

Where does that take us.... I would argue such theories take us nowhere. If nature truly is like that, she is inexplicable and we are wasting our time.

That said, I love Star Trek and think these things are fun to think about...but only as a fiction.

During a reflective moment, who among us has not contemplated their alternative decisions and the possible outcomes thereof? That alternate universe then has existence and we access it through our mind and imagination, sometimes in dreams, often quite awake and 'daydreaming.'

That experience is often as or more real than the 'present' universe, and some people experience difficulty in knowing the difference. Their reality does not interface with the reality being experienced by the majority of people around them.

There are schools of thought that teach that all is mind, no-thing is 'real'.

There is also scientific evidence that suggests some people have a genetic makeup that is more likely to lead to religion or spiritual paths if environment encourages such, while other people are genetically more pragmatic.

Yet, each person's experience is as 'real' to them as the experience of another, although these experiences may differ and be scientifically unproveable, at least presently.

We know very little, in actual fact, about the workings of the human brain and our perceptions of even one universe.

Therefore, I'm keeping my options open on this one. Although I am generally pragmatic and a 'get-'er-done' kind of person, on occasion I enjoy a trip down the path of memory lane or an excursion into the as yet uncharted future to contemplate my options....

From the little I understand- the best way to travel to anther universe (if they exist) is through a wormhole that is connecting a black hole and a white hole (if they exist.) This actually holds many problems... I kinda hope alternate universes do exist- just with a better theory.

Yes, going back in time is not going to happen, but slideing sideways to a different universe that is like yours is. Keep in mind if you do decide to slide sideways to another universe the angle decides which point in their frictional state you arrive.
