This is a very interesting question... something that need guts to be answered. My take is that during the ancient times, when there was no or very scanty communication between two civilizations or even two villages, it was very difficult for MAN to comprehend that they are the only ones around. This left them feeling vulnerable. Hence to give themselves a feeling that they are protected from evul or the unknown, the concept of God was created.

Harmony you ask more questions than a double glazing salesman asks?
I am not saying that I am old,but when I first heard of yogurt I thought
that it meant a tent in the Gobi desert?
What does it mean to exist!Forme it means that I am aware of the fact that I
do!I can reflect on that, and gain insight from that endevour.I can identify
with existance around me,and although outwardly all seems very different
on closer scrutiny all differing things meld into one!It teaches me that I am
part of a greater whole, and existance is another word for life?

kind regards michael.

Michael, I don't get the double-glazing salesperson bit but maybe this is a joke of the realm? Alright, so existence for you includes self-awareness. Does this mean that other humans (some of whom are not self-aware) exist at a different level? I guess my question is does self-awareness make existence different somehow than existence without?

Harmony, forgive me,in England we are plagued with double glazing
sales people ringingup and offering you all manner of thingsto buy their crap,
I guess you dont get that where you live!
Existance without self awareness would by that very definition be different!
But only to us reflecting on it,the other one would not know,or could not
reflect! Those humans who are not self aware!Where are these people! It would of course be different forthem, but again only from "our" perspective!

kind regards michael.

No, I understand that our 'perspective' is different, but is existence affected by this in any real way (other than perspective)?

Existance Harmony is to be!Non existance would be-not?Existance is being
in-formed,and the level of in-form-ation dictates the activities of the
informee??

but Michael, what I'm looking into is whether different ways of being affect existence. A tree frog is, but does the tree frog exist in the same way you do?
