    Re: Science 'versus' God?

Nice graphics Austin, but it's longer than the Bible. So in one paragraph or less " What's it all about ?"

    You know my mantra:

    LOVE GOD

    LOVE OTHERS

    Re: Science 'versus' God?

    In a nutshell:

It's all about that a 'something' was around forever.

There was no creation of it—ever. Thus, no Creator.

The simple 'something' gave rise to the ever more complex.

Humans are capable of great love.

    Re: Science 'versus' God?

    Hello friends:
You have talked about the fine tuning that made the universe and the stars function. It can be seen by the many possible ways that it might have been altered but was not for it would not be. Many have talked about these things.

But there is one very strange twist, most profound, for without this twist there would be no life. That twist is in water. The maximum density of water occurs at 39 degrees F. It expands when you warm it above this and it expands when you cool it below this. Except for this twist the water that is about to freeze would not float to the surface to become ice that floats, but would sink still further and encase whatever might live in ice that would never melt at the bottom of the sea.

The gasses that make water what it is, show not this twist.
A fine bit of engineering what?

Can't you just love others, without needing to add that which has no evidence, is not required, and provides no answers or explanatory utility?

Then why is it the we try to explain the universe? We can't ... it just is. But I think it explains itself every single day if you listen close enough.
It's not about understanding... it's about *not* giving up!

    Re: Science 'versus' God?

Religion is a culture of faith; Science is a culture of doubt. ~ Richard Feynman

Where would someone who has completely excluded themselves from the concepts of faith or religion fit?

I am not an agnostic, or atheist, or nontheist, I am utterly faithless, and have never been happier.

I do not possess a -theist label. It is not required to be involved with that insanity to be human. It's just stuff someone made up.

If I'm not an Aclausiest for not believing in Santa Claus, why must I be an Atheist for not believing in this god, or that god? Why must I believe in anything at all?

I am a physicist, if any label were to be applied that did not refer to my hobbies or my love life.

And why did the not so intelligent design take so long?

Perhaps it was not going so well and so some big asteroids were sent to wipe out 90% of all species.
