    just getting started

    Hello all!

    I found this site doing a goole search on "The Theory of Everything". Since I read "The Elegant Universe" and watched NOVA's show with the same title, I've been fascinated by TOE.

    My education in physics is meager at best (I'm an ESL teacher but my degree is in Psychology), but I'm trying to learn on my own.

    Hope to see some interesting discussions in the future.

    BTW, I'm an active participant in the BOINC physics projects... Einstein at Home and LHC at Home.

    Welcome

    Kathryn;
    Welcome to TOEquest.
    Though I find Dr Greene's oral an written presentations to be quite skilled and inspirational, I find String Theory quite absurd even for a mathematical gauge theory. There are many diversified ideas and approaches to the TOE on this site, I'm sure you will find something you can relate to.
    Best wishes;
    Dave

    Kathryn,

    hi. I also got into TOE and this website after reading the elegant universe. But I've realised that the book is like a bible, or a holy book, which makes all who reads it believe, whiles, actually, it is absurd (a lot to do with religion...).

    What is the BOINC project about?

    Hi All.

    BOINC is a distributed computing project sponsered by UC-Berkeley. They are the original developers of the software for the old Seti at Home project.

    Now it is used my close to a dozen labs and organizations to bring computing power into the equation. There is just about something for everybody.

    Do a Google search on it. I'm at work and I don't have the pages bookmarked here.

    Take care,
    Kathryn
