    Hi all ...

I'm a new member here and thought I'd join in to read and perchance take part in some of the topics. I'm not into physics etc, but the 'legacy' of Einstein does interest me relatively speaking and the 'short history' of time holds a fascination. Plus superficial ideas of philosophy have got me interested. So I will be on a look out here for reading material, which sound interesting yet again.

    Once again a big HI

Hi, be welcomed to our forums, Naropa.

You'll see there's nearly as much philosophical discussion ithan physical one, and this is because everywhere that there is scienc,e there is philosophy. What do you mean by "superfual ideas in philosophy"?

GUILLE: What do you mean by "superfual ideas in philosophy"?

Thank you, GUILLE for the welcome.

I know things only at a superficial level, enough to make a pseudo of me. But that doesn’t stop me from the enjoyment of philosophical discussions. I go inferencing (my word) ideas, and sometimes think that what is, is, ‘cant be otherwise’, till I try rational reasoning and realize that what is, isn’t, e.g. a piece of rope is not a snake.

That’s what I mean by superficial.

Then I believe you'r no less than any great philosopher from Aristotle to Kant. We can all only inhere ideas, have a superfual view of the world. There is no real philosophy. Because philosophy is what w derive from our reality, and our reality is always an illusion, for we are always subjective. The problem is that some try to inverse the movement 'reality to illusion' into 'illusion to reality' and try to convert the world into how they want it or believe it to be.

But thanks for explaning. As moderator of the philosophy forums, I invite you to come and discuss any thing you want. It would be much apreciated.
