    Re: New Member

Hi. My name really is Donald Croft Brickner, and I found out about this forum -- I didn't actually know there was such an Internet locale -- because I saw it advertised next to my published material at Associated Content:

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/use..._brickner.html

...which is funny, because in going back to fetch the above link, TOE's ad is no longer there (?).

I hold a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Maine, and my chief interest is in ontology/metaphysics, looked at from the street so to speak. I'm not an academic, although I know enough to be dangerous and sound convincing.

I'm hoping to be challenged at this site, to stretch my knowledge and to make friends, if that is possible (it wasn't in the limited number of forums I'd been a member of previously -- why, I'm not sure). I take this stuff pretty seriously, it's what I've set out to do in this life -- but I'm always doing my best to not take myself too seriously, and stay light on my feet.

    Cool Re: New Member

Hey welcome Don! I hope you find what you seek here. I know I have had a lot of fun and had my perceptions challenged by this site (which is what i was looking for...). Anyway, I hope you have fun. I also am not an academic (this stuff is one of my hobbies) but I am seriously interested to crack the TOE riddle.
    Cheers,

    Donald,

Hi and welcome here. I hope you find interesting the discussions which are being developed in the philosophy forums now. I'm young still to be completelly sure but I want to dedicate to philosophy. There are many problems we are facing in philosophy right now, so I hope you can help us in our intention to solve the problems.

Hi, harmonygirl and Guille -- and thanks.

My gig is self-styled ontological speculation (I'm a few light years away, so to speak, from positivism -- ahead, or behind, though, isn't yet clear).

Looking briefly at some of the posts, I'm not sure I speak the language. My background is as a newspaper reporter, speaking everyday English whenever possible. That's my preference.

I suppose poking around is a way to get started -- yes?

    Cool Re: New Member

that's what I did (I'm a lawyer by trade...) After poking around, I just started reading articles where I could, still a lot to catch up on, tho...
