    I go by ...

Hi, my name is Ed. I go by Bogie on the Internet for the most part.

I’m pretty old and have moved around a lot, but now I live in Tampa, FL. I’ve been in the Tampa Bay area since ’71 and before that Atlanta, Detroit area, Tampa area the first time, Toledo, North of L.A. California, Lansing MI and MSU, and grew up in Southwestern Michigan.

ToE showed up in one of the links in a post on BAUT where I have been posting for a couple of years. I surfed around ToE for awhile and decided that I liked the environment and attitudes, and think that ToE has everything to offer that I need to enjoy being registered, so I did.

I’m a retired financial manager, ex-controller, group controller, and VP and have developed investment tools for quantifying the stock markets and following trends. But my real interests are in cosmology. I even have my own which you won’t be able to avoid if you read my posts, but then that is the way it should be. We are registered in order to learn, to share ideas, to get others views on our ideas, and I will give you my views about your ideas.

Being retired and a big Internet fan I find that I usually have something to post somewhere almost every day. I hope to be active on ToE and hope to get to know some of you along the way. I have a sense of humor and try to be funny sometimes, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, but I keep trying. If I offend someone it was an accident, I promise. .

    Hi David,
Glad to know someone already who is so close by. I already have enjoyed browsing here and even read your intro thread from a few years ago. I am impressed with your ability to think for yourself and to benefit from the thoughts and works of others way back then.

Let's be friends and maybe we will eventually find we have common ideas about a lot of things.

    Hi Greg,
I’m going to go to Google Maps and find Kangaroo Point in case I’m ever in the neighborhood. You have a great blog going. Interesting posts there. I am left wondering what happened to Ivan there at the end of post #9. I’ll hold out hope for a comment on your blog to clear that up.

Infinity is a controversial subject between people like you and like me who see it differently or at least in different degrees of focus. I embrace it, I find it comforting to think about and I do think about it. I find that there are many absolutes about infinity but I have had to find them myself. I really can’t relate to what other people say about it unless I have explored it myself an have come to the same conclusions. Then there is a fellowship with those who have also so concluded.

Those who find it difficult might be the same people who say we can’t know about what might exist beyond our expanding big bang, or what might have come before. They are right, we can’t know; but until we mentally explore all of the rational possibilities we can’t decide for ourselves if infinity is out there. To me infinity is about deciding for myself how important it is in the scheme of things. To me it is very important; to those who must “know things for sure”, it is not knowable.

One tip on what I understand about infinity. I consider it most proper when formally discussing it to refer to infinite things as “potentially” infinite so as not to give the impression that we can actually know that anything is infinite.

Hi Ed ...... You can google right on to my balcony by just plugging the following number in S27 28.775 E153 02.545 at the search button

We are debating the subject of an infinitely small measurement or volume in the post 'infinities'

    http://www.toequest.com/forum/philos...infinties.html

perhaps we will see you there

    Re: I go by ...

Very cool map instructions, I found your balcony. That settles my other question because there is a Kangaroo Point in both Brisbane and Sidney, did you know that? At least according to Google, . I wonder if I can get my exact coordinates off of Google?

Do you have a river view or are you on the other side? And are those lawn bowling courts between you and the river? It looks like a great place.

I will check out "Infinites" and try to get up to speed, thanks.

    Hi Ed

I have met you in some of the few forums I post in and thank you you are one of the main reason's I got so interested in gravity and the like in the first place.

I am Mike Noonan in the Baut and this tag in Physorg.
I am in Balga a suburb of Perth Western Australia and tried to piece as much together as I could. It doesn't help having only a high school education.

My social circle is telemarketers, cleaners, family and born again's. Not much of a chance to talk physics I can tell you. Mention dark matter or dark energy and watch for the dark or worse blank looks that come back.

For the whole thing to work there must be unifying forces so I really appreciate that you see gravity as important right through as I do. I also think time and thought are vital but if it is not mainstream it is a battle.

It is like we are still fighting the cold war when it comes to open minds and looking at new ideas. Frankly I don't like our chances but I admire that believers that a TOE is a real possibility keep on trying, so thanks again and keep up the good work.

It is refreshing that older minds are thinking and looking, it means that there are some who buck the trend, "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen" Albert Einstein.

    Cheers Mike

Hi Mike, I see you are almost directly across Australia from Graybeard.

I read your blog and I remember you from both BAUT and POF. You are clearly giving a lot of thought to the nature of the universe and are on a journey like most of us. I can tell that you are trying to tie it all together and not just the physical.

You will notice a difference between my style and yours and who knows which works best for communication of our ideas. You go way ahead of me on your ability to draw conclusions and I take baby steps as you will be reminded when I describe the EEP and the ISU and the excruciating details of matter formation and the cause of gravity without mentioning QM or GR accept in passing . That takes me out of the competition for a winning theory and puts me in the camp of simply being happy with my own conclusions.

I recommend that approach to anyone who doesn't understand everyone else's ideas to begin with. Being dense makes me feel at home with my all important idea of energy density of space, don't you think.

Thank you for the encouragement and good luck on your journey.

    Ed

    Re: I go by ...

Ed .... Yes those are lawn bowling courts. I do have river views. I own a number of units in the street to the left of the courts ... But my tenants are so entrenched that I have to rent the one I am currently in!

The one I am in is on the fourth (top) floor, the Shafton Pub is at the intersection, 50 metres away. There are restaurants and shops below me. My panoramic view includes the entire city skyline, Venus parks herself on top of a different building nightly.. The 'GABBA' is nearby ... a very famous football stadium. it takes its name from the Suburb 'WOOLLOONGABBA'. A bit revered like your 'Yankee Stadium'.

Yes.. you can read your co-ordinates off google. When the mouse is over your location, write the numbers down. Then travel away, plug the numbers in and hit GO. You may find it necessary to fine tune the co-ordinates.

Sentient Marine ... check out the foto I took of 'SUBIACO' stadium in Perth ... It includes every seat in that foto (graybeards blog)... I took it when I was working for a company called TicketMaster. I am sure Ed has heard of them.

Hope to talk to you both on the forums ...
