    Greetings!

    Greetings!
My name is Safwan Al-Banna, from Yemen. I found TOEQuest by a happy coincidence, I was googling Bertrand Russell+ Universals; which took me to Universal Theory; from there I navigated to TOEQuest. But my awareness of, and interest in, TOE was raised some years ago by BBC World Service radio broadcasts about the Grand Unified TOE. I've just joined yesterday this very interesting site, and I'm honored to be part of this exclusive community. The questions reflected in topics and discussions are the most supreme of what concerns a human mind. It is only time before a GUTOE is synthesized; Evolution points in this direction. Kind regards to all.

    Re: Greetings!

And I send you greetings from the U.S.A.,
    Safwan Al-banna:

I agree with your optimism, and very impressed with the thought of the synthesis of GUT with TOE, GUTOE.

The two are different, but do need to be taken together, as one.

Any thread(s) that you have interest in, just add your comments or thoughts, regarding the discussion or topic ( sometimes they are the same ), and I'm sure you'll find the members to be very friendly and helpful.

Well I am looking forwards to reading new insights from Yemen.

    Best to you Safwan,

    Pat

    Again welcome

    Re: Greetings!

Thank you so much dear friends, Michael, and Pat, for your warm, welcoming, and encouraging responses. I'm thrilled by the broad spectrum of knowledge, deep treatment, innovative ideas, variety of approaches. as well as the dedicated quest manifested in forums. Educating myself in the way of Toequest culture and guidelines before I post, I'm trying at the same time to identify any gaps or niches where I can contribute most positively.

I'm assuming that the sought after synthesis is not only of current or future theories but also, more broadly, of relevant parts of various actual and potential disciplines that aggregately describe what's "Everything". If this assumption is valid, then this synthesis will evolve at the coincident points or overlapping boundaries of 2 or more sub/disciplines at a time, as breakthroughs are made in knowledge generated within each discipline. While physics is the solid base of this process, others branches of knowledge will become involved, as they become inevitably more "scientified".

Now many of these areas, such as "culture", "religion", and, to a lesser extent, social "sciences", human history, and socio-historical trans-formations, are shrouded in mysteries; they are very hard to be subjected to scientific investigation. But these areas are extremely vital for the evolution of TOE because they define the existence of the great majority, if not all, of humanity and will always continue to do so. For "scientifying" these areas of knowledge more and more populations must be liberated from questing basic necessities and from fighting for survival to get involved in the generation, dissemination and consumption of knowledge.

This will indicate that the evolution towards TOE will go hand in hand with radical paradigm shifts and massive global social transformations..

This is how things are seen from here..

    Thrilling prospects?

    Sincere regards.

    Safwan

Most thankful for your thoughtful post Safwan,I agree a paradigm shift is sorely needed.

What do you feel is lacking (if anything) in the scientific field today.

Would be most interested in your thoughts on this.

    kind regards michael.

Thank you very much Michael for your quick response and for the challenging, but very interesting, question you raised. I've been interested so far in the advances of science and not its shortcomings, but in either case the answer very much depends on the perspective from which one looks at the question. From a fourth World perspective, science itself is lacking or virtually non existent. However, science today is driven by the first World, and its image as seen by a fourth World observer can be an interesting one.

But I think I need to do some homework and a bit of updating, and probably come up with an article or a new thread in a few days' time. I will try to focus on indigenous factors, shaping scientific trends, keeping in mind the prime interest in TOE, with minimal treatment of extraneous (policy/strategy) aspects impacting on the scientific endeavour, if that is fine..

Thank you once again for the marvelous work you are doing here, and warm greetings to all the community.

    Safwan

    Dear Safwan;

Thank you for your wonderful insights you shared.

I would love for you to start a post on synthesizing GUT with TOE in what you termed GUTOE.

In the mean time, if you care to view and comment on my Idea: ( http://www.toequest.com/forum/yourto...2803-idea.html ) you will have to access it by the pdf file link.

    I would be most appreciative.

    Best to you,

    Pat

    Dear Michael,

A quick reply to this question:

Applied sciences and technological aspects of science are more popular, with engineering coming first followed by medicine. Recently, information technology is becoming more popular. You can see that such preferences are influenced by market demand. But the majority study social sciences, law , humanities and arts. These choices are mainly determined by educational opportunities "supply side".

For those who opt for basic sciences, energy-related disciplines have higher preferences. In the area of applied research, areas such as agriculture, environment, water resources, irrigation, desert and arid regions, marine and fisheries, renewable energy, petroleum and petrochemicals, computer and informatics, and applied economics are popular programs.

    Kind regards

    Safwan
