Hi my name is Ted Jaeckel. I live in a lovely village called Irene, which is near Pretoria in South Africa. As they say in Sotho (which is the local black language) I am Madala or Old Man, which applies pretty much to everyone over the age of 50 or so, and in contrast to western culture, is a sign of respect. Unfortunately I am a Madala Madala being 72 hopefully going on 73. I am partially disabled with Post Polio Syndrome, which thankfully seems to have left the grey matter intact.
I attended school in the dark ages at Christian Brothers College in Kimberley the days when black gowned Brothers, leather strap in hand, imposed. strict discipline. It must have worked because I went to College on the strength of a number of bursaries and qualified as a Civil Engineer. My passion for physics was sparked when my dear wife made the mistake of buying me a great book on physics and then had to endure the vague and mostly unintelligible mutterings of a physics-besotted husband for the next 25 years!
That ultimately resulted in the publication this year of a TOE book called The God Particle. You can get a look at www.tedjaeckel.com . Better late than never!
I found this site with a Google search and have found it to be most interesting. Î never dreamed that so many people could have their own TOEs.
My personal perspective on TOE's is that if they do not address a good proportion of the outstanding problems in physics, then they cannot claim to be TOEs. The list of unknowns includes:-
* The fundamental mechanisms of gravity the strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force, and the electromagnetic force.
* The makeup of the electron, proton, neutron positron and other primary particles.
* The meanings of charge and field.
* Missing matter in the universe and what causes accelerated expansion.
* The origin of short duration Gamma Ray bursts.
* Resolving Relativity anomalies
* Why Relativity and Quantum theory do not agree.
* How mass is converted to energy.
* The nature of Plank's Constant,
* Why it is impossible to give physical meaning to quantum events.
* How light is emitted from the atom.
* How the electron circumnavigates the atom.
* A solution to the double slit single particle problem.
* Solution of the particle/wave problem.
* Why E=mc2 works
* What causes inertia
* A solution to the paranormal outcomes of Quantum Physics and indeterminacy.
There are many more but a TOE that addresses at least the majority of the above puzzles should be extendable to the rest. It has been a long intro and for that I apologise. I will now get off my soapbox and wish everyone success in pursuing their TOEs.
