    Introductions

    Hello !

I'm looking forward to learning my way around the TOEsite, and (I hope) getting more involved in the Quest discussions.

Don (that's me) is a retired surgeon, living in Greenville, in upstate South Carolina near the Blue Ridge mountains. In midlife, the impulse to "get it all together" finally became undeniable, so for a couple of decades now I've enjoyed writing on various aspects of the Quest. I suppose my central focus is the philosophy and science of consciousness, but that presupposes a knowledge of reality, i.e. a TOE. Most of my writing is archived on a personal website

    http://home.earthlink.net/~dbscr/

There's some more personal information there ("about the author"), and certainly I welcome feedback. One thing I've been missing is opportunity to discuss seriously the issues you've already been talking about here. For the time being I'll lurk on the sidelines and enjoy the discussions. Thanks for the site, and the opportunity it provides.

    Don

    Hi Don;

Welcome to Toequest. Robert our fearless leader and founder has provided a diverse site, which includes it's topics and members. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I have.

I did a quick overview of your link and it appears very interesting. I'll try to peruse it more as time permits.

Our next forum chatroom discussion is going to be on CONSCIOUSNESS. The time and date TBA by Robert.
I hope you'll join in our discourse at that time.

    Best to you,

    Pat

    Re: Introductions

I do like the way you address the big issues on your site, which I have just visited and faved. I am of the hope that mass communication of the genre we are currently engaged in, will herald the demise of spiritual and scientific discord. I concur wholly that doctrine has value, perhaps infinite value. Though I feel that when it is partialised by dogmatic application it has a negative effect on enlightening activity. Historically, mundane social and political considierations have been dominant in ways that have blocked progress through dogme. I can't see how that can obtain when worldwide freedom of expression becomes available to all. I anticipate with enthusiasm ,reading more of your work.
    Thanks.

    Re: Introductions

Dave, Thanks for the contact. Joining this site has prompted me to try to encapsulate my own TOE, which I've added to --

    http://home.earthlink.net/~dbscr/MyTOE-V.htm

It's in free verse, or at least rather loose verse, for "poeting" is one of the interests we share. Another is the Buddhadharma and for me especially perhaps, the close parallels with the Jesusdharma. Your poem citing the Chariot reminds me of Ezekiel, and your lines --

    >>Chained and bound like Marley’s ghost, with stuff that we acquire.
A detritus we drag around collected by desire. <<

vividly evokes for me the image of the repentant Spanish conquistador (later Jesuit) in the film "The Mission", dragging a cargo-net full of his old armor up the face of the waterfall. Very nicely done! I'm looking forward to more discussion !

    Don,

Good to see you posting. Please note that this forum is mainly for welcomes, and introductions. If you want to introduce your theory in more detail, then please feel free to start a thread in the "your TOE theory" forum.
