Do the humanities and science mix?

Hi, I'm Wick, a one time graduate of the humanities (English and Russian were my majors, German my minor). I have alway admired science, but in the same way a love struck Romeo admires the moon. Science was a glistening, far-off thing, best kept at a distance. I was grateful for the light it shed, but didn't much care about its constituent elements, its mass, its motion, its gravitational influence, the location of its craters, etc. I just liked to look at it. Science was pretty.

In 2005, my admiration turned to an obsession as I began to study the nature of light for a project I was working on. My obsession eventually led to a TOE, which is quite hilarious given my background. I'll share my TOE soon, and hope to get some good feedback. Its full of holes, but hey, it might make the premise for a good book (Something more in keeping with my skills and abilities)!!

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and hope to get to know some of you.

Re: Do the humanities and science mix?

I was wondering if you could give me some pointers. I posted a TOE a few days ago, but haven't had so much as a bite. I feel like I'm fishing in a really bad spot. Then I read what you've written at the bottom of your posts about humility, and thought maybe I had chosen my bait poorly. Would you mind looking at my post and letting me know whether it is worth anyone's interest and perhaps suggest how I might get others to help me. I am a bit reticent to continue posting in my TOE. I feel a bit like Hamlet with Yorick's skull in my hand! The name of my post was perhaps ill chosen "Shaking Free from the 21st century Ptolemaic Universe." If you have time to help mentor me along, I would appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums, Wick. I've had a brief look over your posts, and see you now have replies so it seems the bait has been taken! I'll have a more thorough read in the next few days.

Thanks, Neutralino. Now I'm just trying to keep up without living on my computer. I have seven children and they require a good deal of my time. I look forward to hearing from you.
