A TOE Novel - 05-08-2008, 05:01 PM

Hello, my name is Mark Alpert and I'm an editor at Scientific American. I thought the readers of this forum might be interested in my new novel, FINAL THEORY, a thriller about Albert Einstein and the search for the Theory of Everything. The book will be published on June 3rd by the Touchstone imprint of Simon & Schuster, but you can go to my website -- www.markalpert.com -- for a sneak peek at the contents. I'd love to get some feedback from physicists!

Dear Mr. Alpert:
I am not a physicist and I haven't read your book yet, but my book, Total Field Theory, is condensed on this website; it's a reinstatement of Einstein's presently abandoned unified field and for that reason may be more than inadvertently germane to your work.

I'm not a physicist, but congratulations on your book publishing. I prolly won't ever get around to reading it unless it somehow falls into my lap, but I am sure plenty of people will go out of their way to find your book and read it.

Are you going to post here or just spam with your book ad?

Sal .... I think your mixture of naivety and perception are in perfect balance. Don't ever change.

Hi Mark;
It’s an honor to have you with ToeQuest; I hope you stay for more than just selling your book. The premise of your book is excellent; it should make it to the silver screen in no time. Almost 40 years ago I felt the same thing as I began to comprehend Relativity. Einstein may have actually realized the solution of the TOE and masked it into his equations with his 2c factor.

BTW: my name is David.

David -- Thanks for the kind words. I'm very curious about what people on this forum thought of the cover story in New Scientist last week, "Four Radical Routes to a Theory of Everything." I'm fairly familiar with Causal Dynamical Triangulation -- I wrote a story about it for Scientific American about a year and a half ago -- but the other three approaches were new to me. Mark

Re: A TOE Novel - 05-09-2008, 06:17 PM

Mark;
What are the four routs that Amanda Gifter is suggesting; my count is much higher than four!

I believe that the laws of physics that govern the macro world must also govern the micro world along with anything that existed before or after the big bang event. I think the key to understanding these absolute laws of physics is with the understanding of the cause of “mass”. On this dilemma, I agree with Feynman!

Is there anyone who actually knows what they are talking about when they use the phrase “extra spatial dimensions”?

It looks like a good read Mark.

David is running for his life. The FBI and a ruthless Russian mercenary are vying to get their hands on the long-hidden theory.

And the long hidden theory is?

Hope you start a thread with your own theory.

Best to you and your book.

Pat
