    Hello

    I am a freethinking middle aged divorced father of one. I am a (currently unemployed) electrician in middle America who was surfing around looking for interesting ideas when I just tonight came across Ihtzak Bars work at the U of So. Cal. and to my delight saw a chance of better understanding than I can remember. The ideas though poorly understood by my feeble mind seemed to show great beauty and symmetry and interest me enough to slough through my tedious ignorance to get to this point wherein I might now be able to not only read, but actually ask and reply in an intelligence sharing conversation from time to time.

    Re: Hello

    Welcome to the forum CNI. I am an electrician too. Don't worry about your ignorance and poorly understood ideas around here. None of us have ever let little drawbacks like that stop us from proclaiming our brilliance.

    Of greater concern is your desire to share an intelligent conservation ... this may be more difficult.

    Hi cni;

    Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy yourself here as much as I have.

    Maybe we can put you to work right away by looking at my feeble theory called An Idea.

    It can be accessed at:
    ( http://www.toequest.com/forum/your-t...2803-idea.html ) You'll have to access it through the PDF File provided there.

    You can post any comments or questions at that thread. I think you may enjoy it for its beauty, symmetry, and simplicity.

    Best to you, looking forward to any threads you may start,

    Pat

    Hi cni;
    Welcome to ToeQuest.

    I would strongly suggest you become a mathematician if you’re going to get into such gauge theories as Bars’.
    Good luck; Hope you enjoy the forums.

    Re: Hello

    great stuff -

    gauge theory was real important in the history of math -
    one of the guys in our study group (from the J Baez, B Mandelbrot stable) last brought up gauge theory
    (the 10-20 posts from here onwards
    ->-
    http://www.addforums.com/forums/show...&postcount=656)

    however - I was more interested in Weyl -
    what a dude !

    and exactly as you observed - the symmetry
    - though more importantly the switch from the inaccuracies of the first 'gauge' into a complex (mathematical complexity) transformation

    - the imaginary component of 'reality' has always fascinated me.

    If you want to kick over any of this out there in the forum
    - then that'd be nice.

    By the way - I used to look after the science section on that forum -
    - and particularly liked communicating with guys just like you who were actually interested.

    Unfortunately - I've found that scientists often settle into ruts after the early years of enthusiasm - and so discovered quite some time ago now that perhaps the most important characteristic which a scientist should aspire towards -

    is keeping the interest alive.

    Funnily enough the rut applies to on-line communities also -
    and as a newbie here - I'd like to say how cool I found the Jelsoft inter-forum communication module.

    I posted a request for it to be included on addforums.com yesterday - actually bringing up another interesting question -
    do you guys consider that an individual should post on one forum -
    - or be free to post across multiple fora?

    Anyhow
    - hiya cni

    ... ... ... see you around and about.
