    Lightbulb Hi

    Though I am a communications engineer and tech industry exec by profession, I have been interested in theoretical physics pretty much all my life. Looking forward to the switch being flipped on the Large Hadron Collider later this year. I'm willing to bet that it will produce results that will not only not confirm existing mainstream theories, but will probably turn them on their head. Any takers?

    Hi LugasLuna;

    Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy this site as much as I have.

    You are right about the LHC, I guess some of the things physicist hope to explore per Wikipedia are:

    Physicists hope to use the collider to test various grand unified theories and enhance their ability to answer the following questions:
    Let us hope they are sucessful.

    Hi Terry;
    Welcome to ToeQuest.

    I don’t know about being a “taker” but I think they will not get our monies worth; I’m sure they’ll create something new, complex, and ambiguous that only they will understand in order to justify the expense though.

    Hi LL,

    We already have a super collider, it's called a freeway.
    4000 lbs of atomic particles colliding at high speed with 4000 lbs of other particles
    makes for 8000 pounds of scattered wreckage.
    Scientifically speaking that is!
    Could someone double check my math?
    I was never very good at it.
