    who am i

    hi
    i like to be called hiphopapotamus when i am TOE questing
    and yes i got the name from the flight of the conchords.

    my job is to talk to people and try to "add value" to their situation.
    i see this forum as an opportunity to explore another way of doing this
    as the TOE seems to be the most valuable knowledge one could possess.

    from my experience i have learned that perception of reality and reality
    are not always the same and the only way to align them is to not perceive
    or to perceive nothing. i listen to silence, watch stillness, feel space and
    deny myself opportunities to satisfy my ego.

    the TOE may not be the TAO but i believe the quest for it is somehow
    related to the natural "way". what practical information i find here is really
    irrelevant compared to the actual act of looking for it. my attention is solely
    on the flight of the arrow rather than hitting the target.

    help me in my quest???

    Re: who am i

    Hi back Hiphopapotamus:

    Thats quite a name you selected. First I'm trying to figure out who I am. If I accomplish that maybe I'll be able to help you with your question " Who am I ".

    As a student of Tao, you are probably aware that knowledge and Tao aren't necessarily the same path.

    Chapter 19 of Tao Te Ching starts with the following:
    Discontinue sagacity, discard knowledge
    The people benefit a hundred-fold

    Chapter 20 starts similarly:
    Cease learning, no more worries
    And of course chapter 48 starts with the well known assertion that knowledge and Tao are not necessarily the same path:
    Pursue learning, daily increase
    Practice Tao, daily decrease

    However since you are on this path of knowledge, Maybe you could help me first by taking a look at my TOE thread, and commenting on it. It's located at:
    ( http://www.toequest.com/forum/your-t...2803-idea.html ). You'll have to access it through a PDF FILE or go to post #40 on that thread. Any question or comments would be appreciated.

    A warm welcome to you, may your stay at Toequest be long and enjoyable. Best to you,

    Pat

    Yes, some naive persons think that they can be greatly honored by:
    1) make the target bigger, the bigger the better and easier;
    2) make many many targets, to increase the chance to hit at least one;
    3) shoot multiple arrows, with hundreds of arrows out, at least some of them hit a target;
    4) despite the arrow flies poorly and hits nothing but the air, still subjectively claim it as wonderful and successful;
    5) make an unskillful shoot just by luck, then demand else people to move the target to meet the arrow;
    6) in case the arrow and the target miss over, it is the fault of the target.

    No kidding, all are true happenings!

    Best Regards. Bottomlander
