Hi adam, welcome!
I'm also a student interested in physics and TOE. After reading "The Elegant Universe" I was very convinced by string theory, but after a long time of consideration about the appearance of stirng theory, I realised that many things in it are nonsensial or seem to have no conexion with actual reality or with nature. Also I observed that many of the interpretations of string theory aren't particularly better, many other intepretations could be done about nature which would not only be more simple and have more conection with the big picture view of reality, but would also give much better understanings of natural phenomena.
Have you read the elegant universe or any book on string theory?
yes, i have read 'the elegant universe' and watched the NOVA film on 'the elegant universe'. i am currently reading :'the fabric of the cosmos' also by Brian Greene, and 'the theory of everything' by stephen hawking.
i thought the movie was very informative. i also went to a lecture by Brain Greene (last week) . although it only covered the basics of string theory, it is good to hear someone in person talking about String Theory.
I was thinking in reading "the theory of everything" by stephen hawking, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth reading. Is it? What does he speak about in the book?
well, i have heard that Stephen Hawking didnt actually write this book, it was a lecture that he did at Cambridge University. I also have heard that hawking didn't approve the production of this book.Originally Posted by <<>>
I think that this book is a good start for people just getting in to Physics, String Theory, and time.
I didnt personally like this book because it seemed to be saying the same things as Hawking's book 'A brief history of time' did.
hope that helps!
Thanks for the help.
But I think I won't read it because I read "A brief history of time" and if it's says the same then there is no reason in reading it.
